Video Calls (LINE, WhatsApp) don't work with the front camera with 05.08 release and SW_BINARIES_FOR_XPERIA_ANDROID_8.1.6.4_R1_V15_LOIRE.ZIP. The video is pitch black, except for when pointing it at a lightbulb, which shows up as two white circles (the video seems to be mirrored along the vertical axis of the screen). Nothing else can be seen. The front camera works fine when using the camera app.

Has anyone had this issue before? I can't find any related info.

It also happens with the 29.07 release and with v14
this confirms what I suspected. Anyway, reproduced the issue here and took logs.
Shared the log with @oshmoun and we see interesting things happening (framedrops due to buffer errors)

My suspicion is that whatsapp (and other apps) wants to use HAL1 (legacy).
@oshmoun earlier we "forced" HAL3 to have videorecording working on camera app afaik? I might be wrong (bad memories, you know me :silly:)

Flashed 20180812 today. Bluetooth still crashes all the time. Flashed boot.img of 20180722 over it, BT works much better.
OEM is the latest.

Not sure, but a weak connection seems to make the bt app crash. Even with the kernel from 20180722. Needs further testing.

Thanks a lot for looking into it.

Do you know, is there any workaround I could do until this is fixed?

And thanks for developing Omnirom, I'm really loving it and I'm glad there's such a good rom out there :)

The last update 081218 seems to have bugged out the camera (See gcam viewfinder screenshots).

What is the problem with a boot crash? Do you reboot that often? If I can successfully boot my device after some attempts, it is not such a critical issue. The old security level is more critical. Sidechannel updates are problematic, because of the different signatures. I don't want to wipe my device every time.
How many boot attempts are needed in average?

    well, good news
I think I narrowed the issue down to a single service (hwcomposer)
with some luck, it should be simple to find the exact cause now

A notice for the upcoming weekly:
The kernel has been updated to a new version. This requires an updated odm image.
If you update to the weekly of 20180128, when it's released, then you MUST flash the new odm image from OP, otherwise you'll end up with issues like a nonfunctional camera.
