Which build to test now?

sorry for the delay, but this might be worth it.
a brand new kernel bringup that might resolve the bt and stability issues
https://github.com/bartcubbins/kernel_loire

here is a link to a fresh omni build with that kernel
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tAnWBGaPuD2kLjRVDZ6qxq-BHzP1fNhq

it's worth noting though that I have no idea if everything is functional on that kernel. That's because the kernel does not work on my kugo.
So please tell me of anything nonfunctional in that build.
I'm pretty certain though that bt works, so it should be possible to test that.
Hopefully it will also be more stable and not crash like the current kernel is doing.

I did not notice any bt or stability problems with the last build you removed. But I did not test it for a longer time. I will hopefully try the new build...

The new build does not boot. I am stuck in the Sony logo.

hmm that is interesting
it did crash for me during testing. maybe your usecase does not trigger the issue i see with my tests.
it is promising though that you see no bt issues, as my tests didn't include bt.

EDIT: oh, doesn't boot? that's the issue i see on my kugo
but i got confirmation that this kernel works on suzu, weird

I was wrong. The bt issues are present in the removed build. It takes more seconds until audio breaks.

Is it still against oem v7? I flashed it over the removed build.

yeah it should work over v7, but v8 should be the better option.
and thanks for trying out bt once more. I guess that's one more theory out the window, unfortunately.

I did not notice a feature update. BT is still unusable, but it is still the older kernel.
Maybe you could try the new build, if the new kernel boots with your device. But keep the old kernel to replace if it doesn't.
New kernel in latest build also make my phone stuck at Sony logo

Strange, after replacing the kernel I rebooted. But after that there were some apps missing, that were installed before.
No problem, I had Oandbackups.

What is the problem with a boot crash? Do you reboot that often? If I can successfully boot my device after some attempts, it is not such a critical issue. The old security level is more critical. Sidechannel updates are problematic, because of the different signatures. I don't want to wipe my device every time.
How many boot attempts are needed in average?

    well, good news
I think I narrowed the issue down to a single service (hwcomposer)
with some luck, it should be simple to find the exact cause now

A notice for the upcoming weekly:
The kernel has been updated to a new version. This requires an updated odm image.
If you update to the weekly of 20180128, when it's released, then you MUST flash the new odm image from OP, otherwise you'll end up with issues like a nonfunctional camera.
