Usually there is lots of internal testing/bug squashing before moving a nightly product to alpha/beta/stable channel, so a delay is to be expected. I'm expecting a few weeks, or maybe a month before an official version comes.

Also i'm just gonna mention that Omni still has the highest reply count on this whole subforum. Who knows, maybe this could be our "definitive" Pie ROM when the time comes.

There was a lot of work made and annoying issues were fixed in the last months. I am glad, that this device did not die.
Big thanks to oshmoun for this! The recent test build runs very nice, is relatively up-to-date, and you can use it as a daily driver.
Now be patient!

Here a dump file from latest build, no mod installed, omni kernel and clean flash, regarding battery consumption. Seems that significant motion detection stay awake even with the phone in deepsleep and on a desk. You can see that in 7+h of log it stayed active for more then 6, probably causing the drain. Don't know if it's a known issue and if this could help on the development to improve battery duration and make this ROM even better.
Hope it would.

I tested a beta build of Omni 9 some months ago and, while DRM Info app showed Widevine as supported, upon trying to play protected content, it failed with a generic key error. Before backing up everything and jumping to the current beta, perhaps somebody already running the ROM could say if Widevine works now (at least L3)? A quick test is loading this web page and trying to play the embedded movie...

What is the problem with a boot crash? Do you reboot that often? If I can successfully boot my device after some attempts, it is not such a critical issue. The old security level is more critical. Sidechannel updates are problematic, because of the different signatures. I don't want to wipe my device every time.
How many boot attempts are needed in average?

    well, good news
I think I narrowed the issue down to a single service (hwcomposer)
with some luck, it should be simple to find the exact cause now

A notice for the upcoming weekly:
The kernel has been updated to a new version. This requires an updated odm image.
If you update to the weekly of 20180128, when it's released, then you MUST flash the new odm image from OP, otherwise you'll end up with issues like a nonfunctional camera.
