Why would you say stuff like that? Do you even understand what the changes are from 1.5? Most of them are fixes that do not effect anything with battery our speed. Even the kernel changes are very subtle that they shouldn't effect battery..... maybe the tool chains in the latest release could have a factor but it's way too early to tell. Imo the only thing is maybe the modem but I haven't had a chance to really test it.
Just making statements like that malice it should like the rom it's going backwards and it definitely is not.
Thanks and have a great day.

I am on 1.6.1v and have zero issues with battery life, gps, charging, heat or anything like others have reported. If you are having any of these issues, redownload and check md5. Full wipe and NO restoring ANY apps with TBU. Install apps 1 at a time and wait and see. I guarantee this ROM is not the cause of any of these issues.

+1 here !

I've frozen a few thing with TiBu (things like daemons for stocks, weather, etc.) and CpuSpy has been showing 90 to 98% deep sleep overnight (wifi set to only when plugged in) and drain will often be less than 1%/hr.
If your getting bad battery performance, do a little research & tweaking, because if some of us can get this kind of life, then it's certainly not a ROM issue, more likely an app problem... and the media scan thing DID happen to me once, but not since I got rid of some files/folders left from previous ROM experiments....

Great job, Sho and thanks...

I just remembered something I was meaning to ask you. On the pull down notification is there any way to make the top right just be settings only and not show recent apps. Kinda redundant when I can just long press the home key. I tend to accidentally hit it instead of settings a lot. If not no big deal. Just wondering if it was something you'd consider. :)

so is it m battery? should i replace it?
A way to tell if it is your battery is to do a fresh install and add none of your favorite apps. Fully charge it and use it without adding apps (especially from TiBu). If the battery drain improves, add one app at a time (download) and try to see when the drain starts.

Or order a battery online and check how it drains with all your apps :fingers-crossed:

i am connected to the wifi or the phone net all the time.. is that the reason? and i have apps installed but i dont use them most of the time.. and when i was on 1.4.2.. the battery drain was lower.. it is after the installation of this rom that i have started experiencing the drain.. i m pretty sure abt it..

Sho & jeboo, I've been running 1.6 and have had zero issues. Battery life is great, charges just fine, no apps misbehaving, smooth as all get out. Just downloaded the 1.6.1 update and gonna get it flashed. Thanks for all the hard work.

Just a little info regarding the battery disscussion...

Here's what I've frozen and it seemed to make a significant improvement..

I haven't seen any ill effects as yet, but it all depends on the apps & widgets you might have...

Note that the sleep time was overnight without any use..obviously it doesn't sleep like that during the day because I'm usually fiddling with it !
But it's an indicator I use for wakelocks, etc...

hmmm so only one person has this problem?
I only had issues with the battery life one day and I had gps on most of it. Seeing as I can't get a lock on gps, much less find more than 4 sats and bounce between 0 and 4,that was most likely my issue, other than that I've not had battery problems related to media scanner. Going to re-dl rom (again) , full wipe (again) and see how that goes for gps.

That's my only complaint as of now lol. Everything else is amazing, thank you for your great work sir! (you too jeboo)

Time to get started...

Hi everybody,
To those who have battery draining/difficulty charging issues. Do you have widgets that display GPS dependent info? If yes, does your phone locks on Satellites fast?
The reason I ask is because I updated a few hours ago to the latest release (1.6.1) and after the update I had the draining/no charging issue.
The battery went from 92% to 77% in a few minutes. and the phone was plugged in!
To make long story short, I noticed that my weather widgets (4 of them, dont ask) where stuck either "loading" or with outdated temperature info.
I ran outside to see if GPS works and of course it wouldnt lock. Even after restart.
Back to the computer and reflashed 1.6.1 replacing the sirfgps file from the 1.4 ROM (which for some reason works great on my phone).
Phone started charging widgets work, GPS locks in 7-12 seconds, I love my phone, and thank you SHO for everything you ve done for all of us!

So I'm putting you to the test here SHOman. ;) My wife's iPhone is out for warranty work (stuck home button, it seems to be a recurring problem) and because she's considering getting an S3 I told her she could use my S2 which is running the most up to date version of this ROM. I told her it would be as close to an S3 as she could get without actually having an S3.

While she's using that I'm back to my old Atrix running CM7.2. I'm hoping her time spent with my S2 running this ROM will cause her to switch to Android. Fingers crossed, we'll see.

If you haven't done so already, I would highly recommend that you drain the battery all the way to 0%. I was having similar issues as well but once I did a full battery cycle, my battery life improved massively.
Sure fire way to kill/shorten the life of a Li-Ion battery. They do not like deep discharges.

There are many different and conflicting things that people say about Li-ion batteries. I mean no disrespect, but I've seen no evidence to support your claim. The fact is that smart Li-ion batteries are not completely discharged when they say that they are. the always keep an unusable reserve of power to protect from deep discharge damage.
