No... that's from sequestration. I work for the department of defense and will be furloughed because of the mandatory budget cuts. Our government is playing games with the American people. This will effect many people....not just government employees.

+1 Our federal paychecks buy local goods and services just like anyone else. We haven't received furlough letters yet, but if the sequestration isn't resolved soon we surely will.

Like SHO I also work for DoD except that I'm a soldier. This sequestration business should have come to a resolve many months ago. This is why I hate politics and politicians. All hot air until you start messing with their money. Anyone who actually works for DoD deserves a paycheck. Not an IOU.

You need to get that sucker into download mode and odin a kernel or worst case odin back to stock rooted & start over. If you can get a kernel flashed like Siyah or this rom's kernel, you need to find the zlimage, get that flashed, using linux is so much better, heimdal ftw!
Honestly you just need the right combo to get you back to recovery. With phone off, hold volume up & down then power, release power after Samsung logo.

I managed to bring my phone back to life after several different tries.
I had to use adb download command to boot to download.

However, I could not remember how to use ODIN (only used few times long time ago) and was doing it all wrong. :(
Tried for hours at work, but couldn't get it work (mainly because I could not focus enough to read steps.)

Flashed kernel/rom wrong several times.
I was able to restore from last backup, but I lost everything from internal SD Card.
I must cleared internal SD unintentionally.

I updated SU Binary again in normal mode without problem.
It actually says SU Binary can be updated in CWM, and recommended to HTC device. It does not say it is only recommended for HTC device.

Hey man it does my heart good to hear you're back up because I'm going to be honest, I almost did the same thing last night but changed my mind. My thinking was if it don't work in the app then I'll do it in recovery.

I'm sorry to hear that :/ the government definitely likes playing with people.

Working for education, and being 1 of 12 employees in the district who isn't under a contract/union, when the state cuts education budgets, I wonder whether my job is safe or not...

Sent from my TARDIS
I WAS a union network tech at UCSB back in 09 and I was the first to go when they started the cuts heh.

Su binary updates for this phone for as long as I've been updating have never been mandatory in recovery and have always just been a click and update process. Really it just boiles down to reading, understanding, and common sense. Sorry for those who've gone through such problems. Wish it could've been avoided.

I updated post #3 with a 2.1 kernel containing the TWRP recovery. I added preload support, so go ahead and test it out. This will likely be the recovery used in the future.
If I make a backup in CWM, will TWRP be able to restore it?

I've never used TWRP and honestly, it makes me nervous.

Stay strong bro. The economy's screwing a lot of people. Anything for the kids. That's what makes you their hero.

Thanks for this Jeboo  Been wanting a kernel with TWRP ever since my friend let me mess around with it on his Nexus 4. Simpler imo & I like how it lets you pick multiple zips to flash at once.

Re: [RoM][XWLSD-4.1.2-JB][SHOstock3 v2.5.6] [02/26/13]["mmmmm...JellyBean"]

Jeboo

The TWRP recovery is not compatible with the recovery on the SGH-S959G. We are using aj's kernel for our recovery (it's in p6 on our phones) it boots the ui in both his and your kernels. It would need to be flashed seperately to use your kernel, which I already made a zip for. But is there any way to keep CWM with the kernel included with SHOstock3, and have the TWRP version as an option? So there aren't a bunch of soft bricks from this.

Anyone else having problems attaching a picture to a message for mms? Saying invalid format. I have tried older pictures that I have sent before too. I haven't changed the format. I looked through messaging settings and didn't see anything. I have sent them on previous versions. Now I'm on 2.5.6 with built in kernel. Thanks in advance.

Cleared data under messaging app. Works now. Thank you sho.

On our phones the kernel and recovery are on separate partitions. To change recovery you have to flash to the recovery partition separately.
