I take no credit for these modifications but let me know if you guys want to know how to set this up.

The one thing that always bothered me about our phone was the screen resolution (800x480) and the high DPI default setting for TouchWiz. There's now a very easy way to adjust the DPI to give you more real estate on your screen. It works like a charm in Sho's ROM. Modified on left (180 DPI) and stock on right (~218dpi I think?). There's no issues with the play store and I've kept the home screens at stock icon size for the most part.

For practical use it's a no-brainer for me. The notification pulldown is a huge plus being able to see more than two notifications at a time. Well just look at the pictures they tell the story. I tried to take pictures of common apps to give you an idea.

Enjoy the gallery.

Not sure I follow you...
It seems that the PhilZ CWM boots part of the kernel to get the custom ui used in the other kernels. So if we try to go to recovery our CWM is going to look for that compatible kernel and find TWRP and it goes to a blank screen.

If we use jeboo's kernel for recovery there is something about his kernel that won't boot any other kernels, that's why we are using aj's kernel for recovery. I've tried to use a few different versions of jeboo's for recovery but it will only boot his kernel.

So long story even longer. Using TWRP in SHOstock we would need to either flash jeboo's recovery then SS, and later if we want a different kernel we would need to flash the old recovery first then the kernel.
Or if anyone wanted to use a different kernel they would need to flash it immediately after SS before booting, or replace it in the zip before flashing.
It can be dealt with on our end it's just a little confusing, and I just don't want people freaking out thinking thier phone is bricked. It was just a suggestion to make my life easier, keeping CWM with the included kernel, and having the TWRP kernel as an optional flash.

If I still didn't make any sense you can PM me so I'm not writing any more novels in the thread.

Anyone else having problems attaching a picture to a message for mms? Saying invalid format. I have tried older pictures that I have sent before too. I haven't changed the format. I looked through messaging settings and didn't see anything. I have sent them on previous versions. Now I'm on 2.5.6 with built in kernel. Thanks in advance.

Cleared data under messaging app. Works now. Thank you sho.

If I make a backup in CWM, will TWRP be able to restore it?

I've never used TWRP and honestly, it makes me nervous.

No.

If you want to keep older backups made with CWM recovery, you will have to do some extra work to convert them to TWRP recovery backups by alternately flashing the two kernels and restoring and then backing up in the new format.

I'm on a trip out west and I can't get the dual clock on the lockscreen to work. When I go to the lockscreen settings, the clock and dual clock stay perpetually uncheck themselves after leaving the menu. Fortunately, the regular clock still displays on the lockscreen, but I can't get the dual clock to show.

Ugh.... OK, let's say SHO's next release has TWRP as Jeboo made it sound. If I make a backup in CWM before flashing the new TWRP kernel and something goes wrong and I have to restore my CWM backup, assuming I'm able to get into recovery, would I be able to flash a CWM kernel, reboot and then get into CWM recovery and then restore my back up?

Ooooor is that what you just explained? :D

Great question. The lockscreen clock box stays unchecked for me too, but the clock is on the lockscreen nonetheless. I assume this means I can't take the clock off the lockscreen. Not a big deal because I want it on, but just saying I have the sam issue as you. Sorry it's not a solution.

I think this looks great! If it's straight forward to set up or even an option Sho could incorporate as a toggle, I would be very interested. :victory:

Yes flash Jeboo's kernel with CWM recovery then reboot recovery so you're in the CWM recovery, restore your backup & reboot system. Then when ready to backup with TWRP flash the kernel with TWRP, reboot recovery to be in TWRP recovery then make new backup. Now your old backup you restored through CWM will be in the format for TWRP.

No... that's from sequestration. I work for the department of defense and will be furloughed because of the mandatory budget cuts. Our government is playing games with the American people. This will effect many people....not just government employees.

download and install from post #1

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401

Then install this...reboot device
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/microdownloads/xposed-app-settings.5/viewfile

Choose what programs you want smaller (default size I believe is around 218 DPI). Adjust the DPI number...lower the number the smaller the size. 170DPI is tablet, the screen shots I took were around 180dpi. To lower the status bar / notification bar apply that do systemUI.apk and google services framework.

Hope that helps for a start. It's really not that hard (and easy to incorporate into a ROM).

Anyone doing this.
That second download from villianrom for some stupid reason downloads as a .zip you will need to rename it from .zip to .apk to be able to install it. It's not flashable, it's an app.

Also this is awesome!

Stock DPI is 240 by the way.

We are getting screwed. I'm a soldier and know this well. Soldiers may go without pay this month. We fill in the spots that are taken by furloughed DoD civilians. Benefits, family programs, child care will be cut. Tell me again how military isn't screwed.

When using the torch app, the flash light turns off when the screen times out. Is this a bug I wonder. I'm using shostocks latest with aj's latest kernel.

I just fixed the clock toggle not showing and sticking...... Will be in next update

Not sure about the Dual clock. I have no way of testing. I haven't done any changes to it.
