Loud In-Call volume

Just to share with anyone else that may be having this "issue" (I use the term issue loosely).

I almost ALWAYS keep my in call volume at the lowest setting (much like sho, i find it loud in general), and I can't recall exactly when it happened, but for a while it has been almost unbearably loud to the point of hurting my ears at the lowest setting (I couldn't turn it down any more no matter how hard I tried ). So loud that others could easily hear both sides of my conversation without the external speaker on.

I did some thorough searching on Google and XDA and found others that have had this issue on other ROMs that really didn't point to a fix for my issue. However, I could not find anyone on this thread that had a similar issue. I began trying things out, since I KNEW it had to be something wonky with my phone, or others would have mentioned it somewhere and I would have found it (I'm proud of my searching skills ;)...)...

Well, I discovered the "issue" by calling my voicemail to step through the various in call volumes. The first step louder decreased the in call volume tremendously.... I'm such a dork, I have been trying to turn it down for so long that I didn't even think to turn it up to resolve the "issue".

So, if you experience extremely loud in-call volumes you may want to try turning the volume up during one of your calls, and then turn it back down. I'm not saying it will work in all scenarios, but this worked for me.

I hope this helps someone suffering with the same loud in call volume I had.

This would happen to me too. It seems the volume is louder tham it should be. What I do for a quick fix is turn the volume all the way up in a call then turn it all the way down then its fixed. Weird but I can manage.

Battery Drain and no real standby time...

I had this experience as well. The original stock sgh-i777 rom requires stock batteries, at least whenever you use the USB port or plug anything into the USB.

When I first got my SGS2, I777, I purchased several "replacement SGH-I777" batteries on eBay -they turned out to be I9000 batteries and a) had no NFC chip and b) worked until you plugged in anything into the USB! One of the vendors provided me with a replacement (red) that actually worked, Others vendors just gave me more I9000 batteries in lieu of fixing the problem...!

Oddly enough, when I flashed other roms -I think those that were AOKP/AOSP roms-- on this phone that battery model problem disappeared! With those roms, I could use the I9000 batteries and even use the USB and even charge them in the phone! But for ANY TW/Samsung near-stock Rom, I have lost that capability...

My sense is this rom is worth much more to me than full use of those knock off/I9000 batteries, and I have since purchased a couple of "real" I777 batteries that I use on trips. But around town I usually take one or two I9000s with me in the car (pre-charged in a wall charger) -so that if I am out some where and my phone runs down too much, I can pop any battery into it and get another 5+/ ~6 hours or so on the go.
Then change back when I get home.

It is odd that this rom is so close to the stock in some properties that even the batteries notice it!
I'm having the same problem with any battery. I was thinking it was the hardware IE the cable. I ordered a few more to test, but wont have them till Friday. With the cables I have now I can see the charge indicator but the charge still goes down. I read something earlier to flash with the charger plugged in. I will try that after I get my new cables. I am currently wall charging a Samsung Stock Batt and a I9100 batt (from China) both test out good health but ...
I do get about 4 to 6 hours on each batt depending on usage. I just tried setting the CPU to slow way down when screen goes off but that doesn't seem to have much effect.
I will post back after I get my new cables.

Hi @ Mwwtron. My post was addressing an issue of using the I9100 batteries in an SGH-i777. Not really focused on the battery usage rate --just the issue of "can't plug in usb connector or recharge battery in the phone when using an I9100 battery on stock or TW-based roms." Sounds like you are having issues with battery life. Of course every phone's battery life is different, but there are some steps to maximize battery life in general --Sho placed a link to some battery-saving tips in this thread many pages back. Not sure if you've seen that or not. As for me --the battery life with this version 2.5.9 is amazing both with "stock" Jeboo kernel 2.1 and with AKJ ver 1.48. . . Good Luck! :)

Yea man.... I noticed this since xwls8 and I'm not sure of the cause. It only happens if you have the volume all the way down and reboot the phone. So if this happens...then one click volume up them back down again until you reboot.

Re: [RoM][XWLSD-4.1.2-JB][SHOstock3 v2.5.9] [03/10/13]["mmmmm...JellyBean"]

I arrived home from my surgery an hour ago. They got me on some good meds so I feel ok. Lucky for me my disk was not ruptured but it had a lot of bone growth causing spinal stenosis (which is compressing the spinal cord). Also from by disk compression the path for the nerve root through the foramina had closed up pinching the nerve root to my right arm causing weakness, pain, numbness, pins and needles.
So the surgeon went in through the back of the neck (surgery called posterior cervical laminotomy). This makes a small semi circle hole at c5 and c6 create a full circle so he can access the spine and c6 nerve root. Using micro remote tooling he opened up the path around the nerve root and also removed all the extra bone growth.
So far so good. The back of my neck hurts like heck though so I need some time to heal.
Thanks all for the kind words!

Wow, outpatient neck surgery? Cool. Heal up, hope it solves everything. Perfect timing as your ROM is darn near perfect and my next step is an S4 as soon as AT&T releases.

I think I found a bug. The "Stay Awake" setting under "Developer Options" doesn't stick. I toggle it and it gets disabled again.
