Bootloop at animation

Hi Shoman

Yesterday I downloaded Shostock3 for my sgh-s959g/i777 that actually has CM11 ( 20140708 Snapshot m8) instaled, I made a Factory reset + wipe cache and dalvik + formatted system, data and preload before flashing the shostock zip (md5 fine), but when I reboot, the phone gets into a bootloop... i dont know what is happening here, do you have any advice to get rid of this?
Current modem: I777UCLL6
Current CWM: 6.0.4.5

Thanks in advance for your help...

Make sure you are in a compatible jb recovery.
If you come from a kit kat ROM first is necessary intall jeboo kernel and before install the ROM reboot in recovery then with the new recovery for jb ROM. Full wipe and install Shostock.

WIFI not working.... what is the fix to get the wifi to work>

Kernal 3.0.31 Jeboo Kernal

build XWLSZ-SHOstock v4

SGH-I777

android 4.1.2
I'm not aware of any wifi issues with that kernel. The latest distribution of SHOstock4 is based on XWLSN and uses the Jebo v2.3a kernel. You might try putting that on to see if it clears the issue.

Stuck on Samsung S2 screen after updating SU on google play

Hi all,

Last night, I updated the SU via google, then picked up the option "CMW" rather than "Normal" Now the S2 stuck in the black screen with SS Galaxy S2. I could not go to CMW menu at all, only the download mode. Pls help me to bring it back to normal. I really need it in 5 hours. TIA.

So it's not just me, I'm stuck at the splash screen too. Can't get into recovery. I'm thinking gonna have to Oden back to stock unless someone else has a better idea.

Any suggestions of which Oden to use and what to Oden back to Sho??

Assuming you've tried the 30 second battery pull and three finger salute to try to get back recovery?

If that doesn't work, you should be able to just Odin recovery. Not the whole firmware. If Odin flashes recovery fine, then just wipe it and start over, and ten make sure you do normal mode update and not recovery mode update when it asks.

Thanks for your reply. I tried not only 30 seconds but 3 hours with battery pull & "3 fingers salute" but it still doesn't go to nowhere. Could you pls kind to provide step by step to run the Odin recovery? It has been 3 years since I played with those procedures, now I become a noob. Also, the Odin procedure I read only apply to JB but not ICS. I tried some ADB reboot, but doesn't recognized the phone connected to any port. :(

You can't odin flash a recovery on the I777. I don't know what TheGeekyNimrod was thinking, maybe forgetting that the recovery is compiled into the kernel on the I777.

There are not too many kernels available in tar format for odin flashing. I would suggest that you flash the latest stock firmware I777UCMD8 to recover the phone. You can obtain that in the Download Repository, for which see the link in my signature. I'm putting how to use Odin below.

Once you have stock, use Framaroot with the Aragorn exploit to root the phone, then use Mobile Odin to install the AJK no swap kernel. Both are available on XDA Developers. You can now flash SHOstock3 v4.0, or any other firmware you want.

Ask if you need additional info.
___

How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:

Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different.

1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer, but *Not* plugged in to the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) While holding down the vol+ & vol- keys, plug micro-usb plug into phone.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install (I777UCMD8) and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing.
11.) When complete, you will get a PASS (or FAIL if unsuccessful).

Was thinking that using Heimdall 2 days ago with the command: heimdall flash --RECOVERY "file.img" worked on my i777 just a few days ago after soft bricking it. Didn't flash the kernel, just the recovery. Yes, it's not Odin, but just saying. Worked out fine for me.

EDIT: My mistake. The flash I did a few days ago was indeed for the 959G not the I777. A recent trade I just did. Which would be why the recovery flash worked for it. My bad. Carry on.

I would like to thank you for your long, details, & useful guide. In my case, there is no way that I can bring the i777 back to life w/o having start from scratch? I just hope there is a hope because I have not backup some SMSs lately. If there is no hope for recovery, then I will play with PARTITION i777.

Unless you can get into recovery, the only way to recover the phone, as far as I know, is to flash stock and start from the beginning.

If you can get recovery, perform a wipe data/factory reset and see if that helps, but I'm guessing from what you originally reported that the kernel and/or recovery are damaged in some way.

Ok now that I'm stock jelly bean UCMD8, what's the best way to get rooted & recovery? All the methods I see are for icecream sandwich or older
^^^
Look up, 6 posts above, where I describe just exactly that. If you have questions about any of it, feel free to ask.

But please post your own thread in the Q&A section, since this thread is supposed to be about SHOstock3 v4.0 only.

That method is lightning fast. Refer to PARTITION i777 link I mentioned above to download Framaroot.
