[ROM][Z3TC] LineageOS 18.1 SGP621 [UNOFFICIAL]

Search This thread
I've successfully installed LineageOS and pbrp recovery (On SGP611) but installing Magisk doesn't work. I tried installing the Magisk mod from post #1 several times and I constantly have the same problem as MaX.

I also tried this, installing from the github but instead with Magisk 23, it didn't work. I either gets stuck on the Xperia logo on boot or it installs the app but inside the app it says that Magisk isn't installed.

I have installed it using this method, so the problem is not the way it is installed. I guess.

And I have not installed any Gapps, I don't know if that's a problem or not.

Any help on fixing this bug would be highly appreciated.

I was also wondering that only if Magisk really doesn't work, could SuperSU be used instead of Magisk? Especially since it has been discontinued quiet a while ago.
For the ones having this issue I had, I've found a solution. If magisk is having a package error, install magisk 22.1 from their website and install the apk. After that, return to the recovery menu and flash the magisk mod zip again. It works after that.

SGP621 LTE

Hi evil-god,
it seems it is not possible to join an encrypted hotspot (e.g. hotspot provided from my laptop).

I tried with a clean install, no Magisk, no firewall, just flashed the rom from #2. I could enter the password to the network, but I got no connection to the hotspot.

Access to an unsecured/unencrypted hotspot, however, works fine. Just with encrpytion it is not possible.

Access to any WLAN works fine also without complication.

When I try with your LineageOS 15.1 it works perfect, no problems.

Maybe you can check if there is something wrong, please.

Thx,
bbiwy.

Nobody else facing problems connecting to a computer-hotspot?

I using a computer-hotspot to get the Z3tc to the internet.
So it worked fine so far as I was on Lineage15.1. But when I changed to Lineage18.1 it won't work anymore.

Testing results:
1) computer-hotspot is working with my tablet and Lineage 15.1
2) computer-hotspot is working with a Samsung S8 and Android 11
3) computer-hotspot is NOT WORKING with my tablet and Lineage 18.1. It looks like that the tablet is not able to contain the IP-address(?)
4) strange, a hotspot provided by any mobile phone will work with Lineage 18.1

Any idea?

Amazing...never have flashed any device before, but my SGP611 recently became totally useless with the official 6.0 Android on board.

Didn't really need a new tablet, because i rather use my 6,7 inch phone and my laptop. But it was still useful for stuff like chords for my Ukulele. Except that i couldn't install any apps anymore because of Android 6.

Had to read and test stuff out for a few hours before finally getting through trial and error to install everything. But now it works like a charm. Thanks so much.

Hopefully this gets a few more years out of this trusted device!

Hello, everyone! I have some trouble with audio on this Firmware, After I change the sound level, it does not remain at the same level, but changes like a sinusoid - sometimes louder, sometimes quieter. And also in the maximum position, the sound is quieter, which is on the native firmware with 6 android. Tell me, what could this be related to?

It's normal, it's a bug of this rom.

I had a similar situation some years ago, coming from a quite old firmware. In order to make a more recent recovery working I had to first go through a bootloader update. This is done by flashing the latest official firmware 23.5.A.1.291. Then you flash recovery, then lineageos 18.1

Hi madxxcow,

bit of a late response but I hope you see it. I know for some devices it matters whether you flash a european/usa/german/etc version of the original firmware. In some cases it can brick a device. I know Sony can be a bit tricky. I could only find a german version of the official latest firmware. Do you think it's safe to flash it? Haven't tried anything yet but I'm asking just in case.

Honestly I can't say for sure if version matters. I think I used the French version.

I recently digged up the SGP621 variant with android 5 and I am trying to flash this to my device however I have some difficulty and I was hoping if somebody could help.

My last bootloader experience was with a LG G3 a long time ago so I am kinda not used to the scene and methods anymore.

I tried flashing the orange fox recovery and both twrp but I can never go into recovery of the orange fox as I get a "dtd not found" on "fastboot boot OF-recovery.img" and the volume/power button combos does not work.

If I try to sideload from twrp I get a message that the device is not "z3tc" which it definitely iss.

I was hoping that maybe someone has a step-by-step method of how to install this from for someone inexperienced like me? And I could not find a clear method in the post in this forum.

Edit:
I made a dumb mistake and I did not see the recovery in the actual download drive where the from also recides. If you are as dumb as me know that the recovery in the room folder works great. Just flash it to recovery and go.

Question...when you do vol down + pwr did you have the tablet plugged into computer via USB?
No. After flashing OF-Recovery I unplugged the USB cable.

So I am stuck again...please help.
Reflash last stock MarshMallow with kernel 23.5.A.1.291. Use XperiFirm here from XDA or Flashtool (ROM: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298922705).

Then use commands as described in #315.
    1
@zhuanyi : You only need to download the linked ROM when using flashtool.
    EDIT3:

All good! Running on Lineage OS 18 now, thanks for all the good work OP and thanks for the valuable helps I received from tommes_d.

Few things I want to mention which I think might help others:

    1. My Z3TC used to have bootloader unlockable no. Thanks to this thread I was able to get it unlocked.

    2. On Lineage I think the battery runs pretty fast, but this could also be because the system was just initialized and so on. My battery went from 78% to 49% in an afternoon of very light usage (with SIM card plugged in but using Wifi signal).

    3. Part of the reason for 2 I think is because Wifi seems to be weaker on Lineage, but my Wifi is set up to use same SSID between 2.4G and 5G so that could be a reason (given some earlier posters seems to suggest Wifi on 5GHz doesn't work so well).

    4. One thing I didn't do was I kept my microSD card in the whole time, and after Lineage is installed I found out my card becomes "read-only" (it wasn't read-only before since I was moving stuff to the card before unlocking the tablet), I am not accusing Lineage for making it read only but probably safer to pop the microSD card out when factory unlocking. (And I was using a USB microSD card reader so it wasn't because the adapter had the read-only lock on). Fortunately I have a few microSD lying around so not too much of an issue.

    5. Had some trouble directly installing apks saved to Download folder, turns out you just need to move the apks to outside of Download and it would work (using Lineage's built-in Files app).

    EDIT2:

    Success!

After some trial and error using the Flashtool from flashtool.net I was able to reflash the factory version (in Windows 11 I had to use admin mode).

Followed the steps in post #135 again and now I am in OrangeFox!

Thanks @tommes_d for your help and super-fast response!

    EDIT:
Sorry I guess you meant this one: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php

Mmm...interesting, I downloaded and installed the flash tool from Sony (from here) but this one doesn't really give me the option to use my own firmware and the ones showing on the tool seems to be of older version than what you have sent me...am I using the wrong flash tool?

Same here, but this was already the case with other custom roms, before, like Floko

@SGP621-HH : PM in german language has been sent
    1
    @RedSimply : Done, gerne.

to all: I am only repeating what I have written several times in this thread for SGP621.

First be sure to be on last stock MarshMallow with kernel 23.5.A.1.291
Unlock bootloader and flash boot.img from withing LOS 18.1 ZIP:
    fastboot flash boot boot.img

    Then flash OF-recovery:
    fastboot flash FOTAKernel OF-recovery.img
    (exactly as written!)

Start SGP621 with vol - and pwr button simultaneously pressed. After a short time OF-recovery launches and you can flash LOS 18.1.

Last: Enjoy your new tablet and thanks to our dev evil-god!

I came directly from LOS 15.1 (didn't install Stock first) and I had some problems but eventually managed to install LOS 18.1 and GApps on my SGP611. I tried a lot of different things so I am not sure what made it work in the end but I think it was this:
    1. Extract boot.img from LOS 18.1 zip and flash with command fastboot flash:raw boot boot.img
    2. Flash recovery: fastboot flash FOTAKernel pbrp_9.0_z3tcw.img
    3. Boot to recovery (a bit tricky on this device but Power + spamming Volume Up normally works)
    4. Flash LOS 18.1. I couldn't flash GApps at this point since it told me my Android version was wrong
    5. Boot to system and then to recovery again
    6. Flash LOS 18.1 and GApps Arm (32-bit)
    7. Boot to system and configure device

I had TWRP 3.0.2.0 installed before and tried to install LOS with it but it didn't work.

Thanks a lot @evil-god for this rom!!!
TWRP is not compatible, you must use Orangefox.

    Bugs:

    • wifi 5ghz not working in some countries, 2.4ghz working fine.
    • Magisk dont work, dont patch boot.img manually, workaround unzip this modded apk and rename apk to zip, the flash via recovery

It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing!
If you believe you know what you're doing and do a "dirty" flash - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.

How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)

    1. Download the ROM, (optional GApps) and transfer them to your device(or sideload via adb)
    2. Boot to recovery.
    3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
    4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
    5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work) or Magisk, use this mod
    6. Reboot and set up your device.
