With the Packet Capture app I have been able to capture the exchange with the Syncml server handling the OTA package, but, now that the phone is already updated, I cannot get the URL of the OTA package.
Could somebody with the NON-UPDATED TIM version do the same without updating the phone and retrieve the OTA package url, please?
Thanks
Required steps:
- start with a NON-UPDATED TIM Axon M
- install Packet Capture and its certificate
- start a capture session selecting the System Updates app
- Open Settings/System Updates and check for updates
- DO NOT start the update
- stop the capture session and export the session as text
- edit the file to remove your IMEI from the file
- post the resulting file or the URL for downloading the OTA package

Getting this phone in the mail soon. US AT&T model. If y'all need something to test with I'm familiar with ADB and rooting. Not much depth to my knowledge but getting this to Android 8/9 would be awesome.

The first thing this phone needs is root. To change the too high dpi settings and be able to save them. The next thing would be to remove the nav bar on the bottom right so the phone would use 100% of both screens. Right now i am forcing an permanent immersive mode but its buggy...

A friend of mine has access to Uni Android Tool, which can revive the phone after some experiments.

Flashing edl oreo china 2.1 rom

Deadman96385, every step worked in your instructions in preparing to flash the edl china rom 2.1 but I did not get a red led light. Is it okay to flash this rom?

How did you put it in permanent immersive mode and can you elaborate on the bugs you are experiencing? Thanks

I use System UI Tuner (App Store) to force immersive mode. The mode I selected is NAVIGATION BAR so only the nav bar is hidden and the status bar is still visible. I added a bottom nav bar with another app. The problem with this solution is that sometimes the original in-built navbar on the right still appears. And somethimes when i need the in-build bar its hidden. I can swipe from the right to make it reappear but only for a second. Too short to switch to another screen mode, or at least inconvenient. Maybe a solution is the whitelist option for certain apps to use with immersive mode but i was unable to get it working. The whitelist should work maybe i did something wrong. I use this phone only in Reverse Portrait mode so the thicker side of the phone is in both hands , forced it with another app(ultimate rotation control)

#1 thanks for this, it has been awesome. I have not experienced the issues you reference using system ui tuner and control screen orientation app to accomplish same rotation. I don't have additional nav bars so that may be causing the issue.

Okay so I have my Axon M from AT&T, and the battery life is comically bad. Can I sideload the Chinese Oreo update? I don't care about phone features, I'm just using it as a handheld game system

My situation is precisely the same... after reading everything here I'm kinda scared I could brick my axon tough. My version is B37 and I want to install CN Oreo, don't mind anything else. Is it okay to go for it?

hi everybody, looks like a lot of people are trying to get various different things out of this phone. ive had mine fro about 3months now(about october 2019) and have enjoyed it as a daily driver/gaming phone. The only thing that im needing for it to do is to allow me to use my mobile hotspot. mine is an att branded sim unlocked phone. but for some reason it will not allow me to turn on the mobile hotspot. after doing some reading it turns out this is common(but not entirely so) with att unlocked phones, but my Galaxy s7(which is also att branded & unlocked) does not have this problem. my primary goal is to get the hotspot working. from my understanding if i had the stock version of android that would solve my problem. im actually happy with the phone so upgrading it to the latest version or some experiential build is not attractive to me. i have no idea what firehosing is and or where i should stop in the detailed process for what it is im trying to achieve. if anybody could just highlight the step i need to stop at based on what ive described that would be a great help. Thanks.

Hey everyone! I've been spending the past few days trying to get this device back up and running. It was my dad's device that I set up for him about a year ago. He somehow managed to mess up the device to the point that it doesn't boot correctly anymore. So now I'm tasked with getting the device working. I've been trying to flash the device as instructed here (ATT Z999), however in QFIL I consistently get the error message below. I've read through this thread 3 times and I can't find any fix for the Sahara Fail error, even from Google searches. Most of them say that the driver isn't setup correctly, but I've verified that the driver is installed and the device is in full EDL mode (from Axon7_EDL_Tool). From my understanding of the error code, I think the issue lies with the Firehose file I'm using, but I've tried every combo of Firehose and firmware and I just can't get it to start.

Full steps I'm following-

1. Installed QFIL and Qualcomm Drivers.
2. Turned off Driver Verification in Windows Recovery so that Device Manager doesn't show a yellow triangle on the COM driver for this device.
3. Launched QFIL, ID'd the .elf downloaded from the OP.
4. ID'd the rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml
5. Made sure device shows up correctly up top on the port
6. Hit download.

Here's the full log:
Code:
Programmer Path:C:\zte\prog_ufs_firehose_8996_ddr.elf
Start Download
Program Path:C:\zte\prog_ufs_firehose_8996_ddr.elf

   at QC.SwDownloadDLL.SwDownload.QPHONEMSSaharaDownloadArmPrg(UInt64& version, String armPrgPath)

Finish Download
If someone could assist me to get this device running, I'd have no problem sending a couple bucks your way.... Kinda desperate at this point.

Thanks!
