Install over without any wipe.
I have tested on GM 1913,but should work on gm1917.

What is otg again? I think I'm going to wait for functional TWRP decrypt so this odd way of doing things doesn't brick my phone. I guess it's good I've not gotten the unlock token ?

USB on the go. It's where you plug in an adapter so you can attach a usb stick which will have the ROM on it.
