Just follow my tutorial here (use Google translator) :

All what you need is Mtk droidtools:

1) connect your phone to pc

2) open Mtk droidtools and wait until it's recognized

3) go to 'root, backup, recovery and click on 'to process file ROM_from Flash Tool'
4) select the ROM_0 you've downloaded an press open

5) klick 'yes' if you want to create a cwm recovery (stock will be saved) and wait until the entire extraction process finished.

You have now a full firmware to flash with SP Flash Tools :thumbup:

If you have Windows 7/8/8.1 you have to set the .exe file into Windows XP compatibility mode

Otherwise you have a bad scatter file

EDIT : OK apparently it finally worked by putting it in XP compatibility mode, thanks !

Hello guys,

I really need your help !

I'm stuck now with a big problem: the two IMEIs of my Idol X are invalid (null) since I flashed it.
I tried to change the IMEIs with every solutions I found - Maui META, SN Writer, apk application, MTK Droid Tools, Enginer Mode, etc..
But they all have a problem, for what I know, they cannot connect or communicate with the smartphone, Enginer mode cannot send the AT command, etc..
I have tried several different ROMs, but it doesn't change anything, the IMEIs remain null.
The only thing I found somewhere on the internet is to put back the orignial ROM or at least part of it (like boot.img and other .img).
The problem is that I didn't make a back up of it (I know, it is stupid !).

So its why I'm asking if someone could provide me with the ROM which is actually a customized ROM from China Mobile (the Idol X I received from Hong Kong was branded with China Mobile).

This is my last solution, if I cannot find that ROM or if it doesn't work, I think I'll end up with a bricked smartphone which is too bad because this smartphone is such a good piece of hardware !

If you have any clues of a solution, let me know please !

are you using the correct scatter file? you shouldn't select the _PMT one!

Guys,

since I flashed, the baseband version showed in "About phone" is set to 6180. It sounds strange to me. Could it be related to the fact that I cannot change the IMEIs that are both set to null ?

Hello guys,

I have recently received the TCL Idol X and I have several questions, I hope you can help me:

1. The model I received is a S950T, I don't know if it changes anything ?
2. I have no SD card slot (dual SIM version), so, if I'm right, I'm not able to use CWM ? I tried but it says "Couldn't mount /sdcard", which sounds logic since I don't have one. Does it mean I am not able to use CWM to install recoveries, at all ?
3.a. I have flashed my phone using SP Flash Tool (russian Alcatel ROM), it went well but now I'm stuck with invalid IMEI (they're lost actually), so I have no network. I tried to change it via the Enginer Mode but when sending the AT command, it says that it failed to send the command.
3.b. Now I have the russian Alcatel ROM, I can't find any way to root my phone (VROOT, and other soft doesn't work). Is there a way ?

What would you advice me to do now ? I'm a bit stuck, and don't want to rush and get a bricked phone :crying:

For the ones interested, I received a S950T (branded China Mobile) instead of a S950, which is different, only compatible with TD-CDMA, a Chinese technology for 3G, makes it incompatible with networks outside China. Moreover, this version come with a blocked web (no access to Google e.g.).
So be careful not to order that version, you will end up with a useless terminal.

So, I got my solution, just need to send that **** back and advice you to avoid DinoDirect.

Hi,

I bought a flip case for my Idol X. I've tried some apps to automtically on/off screen by opening/closing the flip but those were quite energy-demanding, squishing the battery quickly.

Does anyone know an app for this purpose but with small 'footprint'?

Recovery, adb and etc...

There a lot of confusion out there...

1. I tried many times with the combinations told (power button + volume up)... its correct but just they told you exactly how... and i finally find out how !!!!! Power off you phone without it connected to USB or charger. Wait for the screen completely off, then press volume up then power button. Wait for the Idol X icon pops up then count 1-5 second (depends how fast you count) then release power on button... just release the power button only and remain pressing volume up... if you successful then it will went straight into recovery.

2. How to ADB? You had to go into recovery before you do that !
3. How to power off when you are in boot loop? Long press power button and wait... once the screen turn black release the power button immediately. You had to make couple of try before you succeeded. Normally my success rate is 100% when i'm at the "Alcatel one touch smart move" splash screen. So just wait until its at the splash screen then long press the power button and do the rest above.

anyway there should be a tools then allow us to reinstall the latest/current rom. But unfortunately the rools alcatel provided is only upgrade your phone which is pointless / useless if you soft brick your phone.

after i flashed my device i had the same problem as a member here with the imei's. The imei numbers where 0000000000000, both of them. I changed the 1 imei with a guide i saw in youtube but the problem is i dont have the 2nd imei. The package has no 2nd imei number, only the 1st one and im wondering if there is a way to retrieve the 2nd one. Most phone have the numbers behind the betteries but since the battery is build in i cant open it. I have thought to use an other guide to open the phone and see if i can find the imei behind the battery but im not 100% sure that i want to do that. If someone has a way for me to retrieve my imei please help me out. Thank you properly

Imei is on sim card wlot magnetic cover. At least on my phone....
