Here is a partially working Kitkat rom which works for UG007

Everything works except WiFi network.

If you have a USB Ethernet adapter then go ahead and try it.

note that you need to make sure what WiFi chip you have MTK or AP6210

My UG007 had the MTK chip and I can confirm WiFi is not working.

To flash this rom you will need to boot the device into bootloader mode which can be done in two ways.
If you have root on current rom you can install an application that can reboot into bootloader mode otherwise you will need to open the device an short the two pins of the missing reset button.

Do you know of any Kitkat ROM for the UG007-II that has working WiFi?

I think it is a kernel problem and I did search for a working kernel but couldn't find anything yet.

but this rom is very fast and it is worth it to buy a usb hub and network adapter to use it until someone fixes the WiFi problem.

Both the Rikomagic 4.2.2 file and the 4.4 Kitkat file for the UG007-II flashed successfully on my UG007-II (dual-core, MTK wifi) but I had no WiFi working.

So I ended up going back to the official UG007-II 4.2.2 jellybean update (with MTK WiFi support). I don't know why my WiFi worked with the 4.2.2 file but not the 4.4 file, since both files are stated to be for a MTK WiFi device.

There is a new rom dated on march on the same link

how much faster than the stock or rkm is this 4.4 rom?

Fully Working 4.4.2 KitKat (MTK Wifi active)

Honestly, not a big difference. I'm personally wanting Kitkat for more stability rather than speed. Sometimes my UG007-II will freeze up while watching videos on BS Player and I'm hoping for more stability.

This is a fully functioning 4.4.2 KitKat ROM, not the same as the one posted in this thread.

Wifi works, same as bluetooth, ART functions as well. Antutu scores 14.5K with an OC kernel, 1K below my older MK808B on 4.2 but considering KitKat is still 'maturing' all seems well, especially for an aging (and cheap) device.

The ROM flashed just fine and booted up on my UG007-II but there are some serious issues. My UG007-II will flicker the TV screen and turn it black when I toggle the WiFi on and try to enter the WiFi password. It also happens after a while when I just move the pointer around using my bluetooth keyboard with trackapad. These are issues I never had on the previous 4.2.2 ROM.

I thought it was the power supply but it happens whether it's powered by my laptop or through the Samsung 5V, 2 amp wall charger.

Sorry to hear that. That does indeed sound like power supply issues. I would try to flash again and make sure to erase IDB/nand flash (put the device in mask rom mode) before re-flashing. Depending on the ROM(s) you had installed previously, there can be conflicts from lingering elements, especially manifesting in troublesome wireless function.

This is the first report of this issue, one other user reported issues with a 1a power supply which I'm sure is underpowered. I use 3.5a power supplies on my tv sticks.

How do I enter mask ROM mode? When I flashed to 4.4.2, I used RKBatchTool v1.7. Also, before flashing, should I erase internal, cache, and Dalvik within CWM first?

Use Rockchip batch Tool 2.1 and click 'erase flash' to enter mask ROM mode before flashing firmware, to eliminate the possibility of firmware corruption

Problems ug007

Well, I have my ug007 since 2012, I used it a lot and really love it, it was cheap (65 usd at the time) and did a great job for me.

But now I'm having a lot of reboots when I'm using netflix and xbmc. I've tried all possible roms, finless, neotv are the ones who works best. But I'm still having reboots when I'm using this 2 apps. I've flashed 3 roms yesterday, and the 3 gave me the same problem. Should I trash my device and go buy a new one? Is there a way to see what's happening? I think it's video acceleration related, since the reboots never happen when I'm using chrome or playing emulators...

What can I do to discover the root of this problem?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi,
This can come from the fact the cpu is over loaded, and the power delivered on pick is not big enougth... in short try it with an other power adapter which is able to deliver more mili watts ( but with the same voltage).

That's a quite chip solution to try...

Please help! I'm petty much ready to give up.
I purchased an RK3066 HDMI stick about a week ago and i received it with kitkat 4.4.2. Everything was working properly except a Bluetooth gamepad i own which was not able to connect with the stick. So i figured i should try some of the other roms.
That's when i completely lost my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. After some roms including finless, or stock ugoos ug007 with mtk and broadcom chipsets and some others, i contacted the seller and he provided me with the link of the original firmware. I downloaded it and flashed it successfully only to find out that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth still won't work. I can actually recognize that it is the stock rom, same apps, no shutdown button, background etc, but no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
This is the stick i bought: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/On-S...-Player-1080P-Dual-Core-Cortex/693069531.html
And this the stock rom: http://www.ibestec.com/Download/Download6.html

Thank you in advance.

    Hello there! It's me again.

I've noticed a very distinct lack of threads that start with [ROM] in this here section, and I hope to help change that. I recently purchased a UG007 Android-on-a-stick, which I have discovered has a lot of hardware similarities between other devices, thanks particularly to wide prevalence of the RK3600 chipset.

My goal here is twofold. One is to provide a consolidated place for others interested in developing for these devices to find resources. The other is to explore the depth of the similarities between devices, discuss various flashing methods and tools, and overall get in touch with other people who may own these things who have other knowledge and skills that I may not possess.

First off, here are a few downloads for various ROMS I've found across the web. I did not make any of these - I'm just linking to the sources I found.

STOCK UG007 Firmware - STOCK 12/01/2012 ROM, completely unmodified. Good to see the differences between the pre-rooted and OG versions. Original source unknown, my apologies.

FengHuang pre-rooted for UG007 - Pre-rooted, "market fix", "xbmc supported", fixes some wifi negotiation issues. Jellybean 4.1.1. Verified works. Install by placing in root of SD card and inserting into device.

Finless Bob's 1.5 for iMito mx1/2 - VERIFIED WORKING on UG007 as well. Pre-rooted, debloated, higher LCD density, other tweaks. See original thread for full details. Install instructions in OP as well.

And that's all I have for now. I'll do some more digging in a while, see if I can't find more stuff. I found a thread elsewhere that has resources for building kernels for RK3066 - I'll try to post that as well. If you know of more ROMS, please, post them here and I'll add to the OP.

There is a much easier way to do all this directly from the device without having to hook the stick up to a computer or install any drivers.

    1) Download the FengHuang v4 ROM from the link in the first post (I can provide an alternate link if it is still down). You can do this directly from the stick -- no PC needed. Edit - Alternate Link to download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?avoui37gr7taxsd

    2) Using a file explorer (either built-in or ES File Explorer from the market), move the zip you just downloaded from the Downloads folder (/sdcard/Downloads) to the root of the internal sdcard (/sdcard) and rename it "update.zip".

    3) You will now be automatically prompted to install the ROM.

    4) Congrats, you are now rooted.

    5) Download CWM from this link: http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3066/ . Do it directly from the device.

    6) Using a file explorer, move the downloaded zip from the Downloads folder (/sdcard/Downloads) to the root of the sdcard (/sdcard) and rename it "update.zip"

    7) You will now be automatically prompted to install the zip (CWM)

    8) Congrats, you are now rooted with CWM recovery installed.

You can boot into recovery using terminal by entering:
    su
    reboot recovery

From there you can make nandroid backups so you can saftely move to different ROMs. There are CWM comptible version of Finless 1.5 and 1.7 around so that you can install these ROMs if you want without having to go through the PC-based tools (etc.). Personally, I found running FengHuang together with the 1080p Kernel from Finless 1.5 to perform a bit better.
    2
Is there anyone still paying attention to this thread? Anyone willing to take the software and modify it?

Well, I've asked for the 808s quad-core, 5.1 passthrough enabled bigger brother for Christmas this year. If I get that, you may see me breaking down and doing some ROM work for both. I've just been busy with my miui port for the one right now.

Finless 1.7 is up now. Comes in two flavors:
    http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?3931-NEW-iMito-MX1-2-Finless-ROM-1-7-(beta-is-over)

    Edit:
Some other things people may find useful (maybe it can be added to the OP):
    1) CWM recovery for the UG007:
    http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3066/

It is ridiculously easy to install (just place the update.zip at the root of the internal SD card and you will be prompted automatically).

    2) I installed Finless 1.7a last night using the 1080p option and there is a significant difference. It appears to be true 1080p. However, I was not able to get wifi working unless I used the kernel from 1.5. Just a note to others that might run into issues.

    3) I created a CWM flashable zip that will install Finless 1.7a 1080p + 1.5 1080 kernel straight through recovery so you don't need to hookup the device to a computer, install drivers, put into flashable mode, etc. I'd be happy to post it for anyone here to use but I am going to reach out to Finless Bob first and make sure he is ok with that.....don't want to step on anyone's toes. If not, I can post a tutorial on how to create the flashable zip. It's pretty easy and can be done straight through the device with ES File Explorer.
    1
There are earlier releases of finless/Bob's roms, plus factory roms all for the MX 1/2 so for both devices. Note finless roms all start At v1.4
