I'm going to a work conference and wanted to tether my wifi xoom to my epic. So far I have my epic unlocked (without wiping it) and a wifi app installed. I have run into a snag though: the hotspot app is ad-hoc mode and xoom can't talk to it.
This leaves me two choices:
1 - find a hotspot app that runs infrastructure instead of ad-hoc (if possible)
2 - root my xoom and enable ad-hoc support
I'd be fine with option 2, except that the method I found (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1170760 - from stickied post up top) explicitly states it will wipe the tablet and I would really prefer not to lose my data. I am on a completely stock 3.2 xoom and am not after custom roms or any other features like that - only root.
