Take su update out of one of the folders along with busy box and copy them into the main area. That's how I got it to work.

Having trouble with safestrap. I installed apk and ran install recovery and grant root access but it says recovery not installed in the app.
I'm guessing safestrap won't work because we are on nd7 baseband.

I may be crazy but I didn't install sdk I just downloaded copied all these files into my old Saferoot folder since it contained adb then I ran Clean, Prepare, and Root after reboot I'm rooted. Can someone else verify you don't need to install entire sdk for this.

Thank you so much for this!!!!

Just ran the steps, and root is confirmed - running foldermount now, and freeing up space on my internal memory ...

When I received my refurbished unit, I was VERY bummed about the root prospects, considering the latest OTA was pre-loaded. Thanks to ghetto root, I've got my root magic back:cool:

Is there any way I can look into putting a custom recovery onto this phone now? Or do we still need to wait for a bootloader unlock?

GhettoRoot - All-In-One

Everyone, please use this .zip from now on. Please test, and let me know how it goes. I have simplifed the root be a single click root method.

Steps:
  1. Download and unzip file.
[*]Connect phone, ensure usb debugging is on, and device is authorized.
    [*]Double click GhettoRoot.bat

Download - View attachment GhettoRoot.zip

In full disclosure I have no idea where the source for this came from, I just made it pretty, and tried to make it super easy. Credit goes to 25yvdgpo06 for finding it. This root very well may work any many other devices, including other Samsung devices. Looking at the source I dont see anything that should hurt another device. Worst case scenario it simply doesn't root it. Please let us know if you try another device with success.

Long time lurker but OP compelled my to finally make an account.
I've been needing to root my Verizon note 2 for AR unchained w/appradio 3.
I have never rooted any of my phones personally but have been fortunate to always know a buddy who can do it fairly quickly. If you don't mind and I'm sure answers are around this forum somewhere but here are a few questions before I begin.

1. Are the actual rooting files supposed to be on my pc or my phone
2. What program do I need to make a safe copy of my pre rooted phone and adb?
3. I'm literally below a noob on doing this what do I do on my computer when phones connected via usb. If there's anyone that doesn't mind spending a little time with helping walking me thru this I can give you my email and PayPal you funding for your time. I can't. Brick my phone my 2 yr old sons life depends on Adventure time via netflix.

Read my post right above yours... It literally spells it out. There have been a number of folks in this thread doing it, without issue. I literally made this a "one click root", which means you download it, extract it, run it. You will need to put your phone in usb debugging mode first. Other than that, it's cake.

Thanks again to NetworkingPro for getting things to work sensibly for end-users. I've revamped the scripts so it should be a lot easier for everyone than the way I originally had it, and after revamping I saw that NetworkingPro had done the same thing :). I wasn't going to include ADB, though... That's a very helpful touch.

Also, it's probably true that this will work with the other Note 2s, but I have no way to test that. I'm thinking of this as kind of like a little Towelroot bugfix... but there is still a part of the code that I don't understand (OK, more than just one part) so it won't necessarily work with completely different models. We'd just have to try it!

Harm could only come from keeping active applications running while performing the exploit (close 'em!). The worst case is that they might get corrupted when the phone reboots, if they're in the middle of saving. Rare, but can happen.

I keep getting device not found. i have enabled debug mode but i keep getting device not found.

Even revoked Device Authorization

Any ideas?
I've had that happen before. Dialing ##366633# and toggling between the DM modes there sometimes snaps it out of it, at least to the point that revoking USB authorization and toggling USB debugging and unplugging/replugging actually does something.

Thanks for the advice but still no bueno
Could try checking Device Manager and removing your drivers. I'm just now noticing that my Note 2 is detected as an "ACER Device" -- an "ACER Composite ADB Interface"... Since when?! It works, though...off and on.

Try right-clicking, choosing Uninstall, and potentially even check the box to delete the driver, when you find your phone in the list. You may have to reboot. After rebooting, download and install drivers again.

It may also be worth trying a different USB cable. I didn't realize how much cables matter until recently...
