Root Acer Iconia A1-830 ?

LOL ! I was actually meaning if someone tried to install Android 5.0 or 5.1 ( or higher) on rooted A1-830. I guess the whole purpose of putting the efforts into rooting a device is mostly to have access to ROMs which go beyond of where some of the devices are stuck after the producer/retailer stop pushing updates. For example A1-830 is stuck at the 4.4 on stock ROMs, my purpose of rooting it is :
1. - to get rid of annoying bloatware/apps installed by manufacturer, and
2. - to install ( if possible a higher version of Android.

True, but since this thing has a locked bootloader, you can't install a custom os on your device, however, acer hasn't changed much of the look of the os from stock, so if your goal was to install something like cyanogenmod, just root it and install xposed, badabambadabing you're good to go.

If they did release an unlock for the bootloader, we'd have to create a device tree (kernel sources are available for 4.2.2 so we don't need to create that) which is a pain in the rectum. Trust me haha.

As RAZER explained, apparently the bootloader is locked and you can't install a higher android version. Like you I had exactly the same thought process and expectations (I did similar thing with a Samsung S4 which I took from 4.4.2 to 6.0 and now running 7.1.1 super fast, no bloat with a complete stripped down version of google crap I don't need and recharge it in less than 10mins all amazing. Unfortunately Razer explained the bad news and the sheer disappointment for the Acer. Only good thing came out of that so far was to be able to fix the loose wifi antenna (another know issue with Acer) and now I get solid signal which was just a coincidence out of this rooting exercise.

Once you're in droidboot you have fastboot access and that's what it's supposed to say. In recovery you have those options but you can't flash anything besides stock rom. What is it that you're trying to do exactly?

I want to get the root. I tried many applications for this. Both on the tablet and on the PC. Nothing works. Now I'm trying to install SuperSU through a temporary recovery

What happens when you tried the temporary recovery? Did it boot you into the recovery?

No, the tablet is loaded into the droidboot. At this all stops.

My problem is that with the A1-830 stuck on 4.4.2 there are lots of apps I'd love to run which just don't support that old android version, so I can't install them at all. Is there anything in xposed which might help with that?
