OP is updated now :)

Available are now 5 different versions of the same SuperSU 2.81 EMUI 5 and the Guide is also updated. :cowboy:

@cline2 please read OP, below is a version for KangV based ROMs and the description how to do...
I have tested the method on my P9 (I dont use prerooted boot.img)
I unrooted my device and installed a preeroted boot.img by KangV
I just flashed after version 5 (the KangV Version) of SuperSU EMUI 5 and everything was good. No problems with developer options or anything. So I hope, it will work also for your device. It should be, since the script inside prerooted boot.img is the same.

Did you the steps I wrote in OP for the "KangV Version" before?
First uninstall SuperSU apk. (from settings /apps)
After extract boot.img from the Rom.zip, which you are have installed on your device. (by unzip) and flash original prerooted boot.img first with adb. Reboot your device.
After reboot to TWRP and flash 2.81 again - should work.
Phone should boot up then two times

Sorry I was busy. Just got home. I tried those steps.

Uninstall SuperSu.apk
Extract boot.img from MT8_A_EMUI5.0_B587_Kangvip.zip
Flash boot.img reboot to system then
Reboot to TWRP and flash 2.81

2.81 works but developer options still crashes

@Tecalote
Did you consider making phh's super user flashable zip?
E.g. I do not trust SuperSU anymore. Especially after recent events with latest versions. I am getting the impression that they are installing some backdoors to my device. :cyclops:
Thanks.

I have P10 lite, rooted with supersu 2.79, original rom, can I install this supersu 2.81? Thank you
How did you root with 2.79? Did you use the 2.79 Emui SuperSU.zip?
Is there a working TWRP for your device which allows you to backup and restore your boot?

If yes you can backup boot before flashing - and I would try version 4, cause it works on P10 which is similar to P10 lite.
If it doesn't work restore boot with TWRP and try version 2 or 3

Sorry, I don't consider - please search the phh's superuser Thread.
An alternative is also Magisk. It has a good root solution. But it works not with all TWRPs and devices.
Which device to you have?

I have p9 Eva l09 c432 b386.
I was rooted with SuperSU 2.79.
After I tried 2.81 I did not loose root but lost busybox. After I flashed busybox again (it is same with all instances) root checker programs could not detect it, just entered in it's own loop!? Some busybox installers said that device is not properly rooted.
Then I flashed stock b386 boot, you had sent me, in order to root again with 2.79, flash busybox and leave it like it is, but my bootloader has got locked again. It says it is not locked, but I am unable to install twrp not to unlock it again. I am getting message FAILED (remote: Command not allowed).
Now I am not rooted trying to figure out how to unlock bootloader, install twrp and root again. :crying:

That's good news! And what was the important detail to get it to work?
I would like to know, thanks :)
I had to find the right boot.img.
