Not able to get a logcat still. This is what I see as of now.

1. When you change the back button the change reflects on the recents at the top and vice versa.
2. Clicking apply causes a FC of System UI
3. Reboot
4. The correct selections have been applied in the correct places after the reboot. :good::cool::highfive:

I installed the app and accidentally clicked "Apply Backup" before making any changes. After rebooting I've lost my navbar and status bar and can't find a way to restore them as it won't even let me on Softkeyz as after clicking tap to begin it force closes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, open a shell: (enter after each line)

su
cp -f /sdcard/SoftKeyZ/backup.apk /system/app/
chmod 775 /system/app/SystemUI.apk

Or you can copy the backup.apk there manually using a file manager of your choice. You wont need the NavButtons for that. (at least in Root Explorer)

But it does not work? Are you using a Theme? Can you pls test this:
open a terminal:
(mount system as rw bofore)

cd /storage/emulated/0/SoftKeyZ/SystemUI/
zip -qrf0 /system/app/SystemUI.apk *
chmod 775 /system/app/SystemUI.apk

no no it works now since the v3 ! :)

btw: I use Apex, Minimal MIUI theme, xylon, franco :)

oh also, I think you should make a menu especially for colors, because for example for people like me who use a custom rom that allows you to color nav buttons, it's useless, and cumbersome ;)

Well on ParanoidAndroid it has an effect. But thank you for the suggestion.

Just wanted to clarify: the app backs up the sys ui original file somewhere and I can just flash that as a Cwm zip if I have to?

Sent from Jupiter

It saves the apk, but not as a flashable backup.

But you can adb to copy it back or a terminal emulator app.

Alright.

Tried it. Sys UI FC. Forced a reboot. No Nav Bar/Status Bar. Reverted back to backed up file. All good.

Could i request a save as flashable zip option for the backup in a future version? Might make it easier to use in the event of a failed apply.

This is my new app called "SoftKeyZ" what it does is simple: Change and combine different Navigation Buttons on your rooted device.

Please make sure you have the BusyBox installed.

If you like my work, please rate it 5 stars in the PlayStore and consider to support me by buying SoftKeyZ from the PlayStore.

Free apk is available for XDA below

    AW: [ROOT][APP][BETA TEST]SoftKeyZ - Change and combine Softkeys/Navigation Buttons

Does this app hold any wake locks or have a noticeable impact on battery? Sorry I hate to ask but I'm paranoid about my battery life but I would love to install new softkeys

No, it doesn't. But it needs Root and BusyBox.
