Nope, not work.. I guess I have to try for RootZenfone5Kitkat Third Version, Or Downgrade Method:laugh:just from what I see and my experience , any change you/any action of yours makes to any system partitions other than /data and /cache remain unchanged after a factory reset also.
meaning if something is corrupted it doesn't get fixed automatically on factory reset.
for example, I made ES file explorer as a system app and move it to system/app.
and after factory reset I noticed ES file explorer was not removed.
this implies if any of you played with tweaks / some error occurred initially during root process,
those files remain inside the folder.
factory reset doesn't help wither from recovery or settings because it just erases /data and cache.
only work around for this is ,
look at your current firmware version, and download the same or an updated firmware (if u wanna update ) from Asus site.
be careful about WW TW SKU stuffs..you have to get same version.
once downloaded place it in internal memory or SD card .
you will get an option for update available..just proceed with it and this update fixes system files and makes them clean..
then retry rooting.
I'm not 100% sure this could help you, but it does a clean job, I messed with xposed framework and kept having auto reboot issues even after factory reset randomly.
later I found out that the corrupted files were not removed and hence causing issues.
also a possible reason for root failure could be using the latest update ,
someone posted on Asus forums that the latest (late December update ) .40 had a new bootloader and he could not find raw image for it to make proper root and OTA support.
and recomended people to root from .13 version.
but I didn't find any issue rooting on .40
worked like a charm.

And the result is.....
Nope, RootZenfone5Kitkat Third Version isn't work too, only one more option left
