Steps -
1. UNLOCK BOOTLOADER MAX M2 (Unofficial)
(See Previous Thread)
2. Reboot your device in fastboot mode using adb reboot bootloader
3. Flash patched boot file (attached below) using fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
4. Reboot and install magisk manager apk
5. Done enjoy your rooted device.

    this is a highly experimental method. This method worked for you doesnt mean it will work for everybody. 50% chance of bootloop. Its better to wait for a working twrp.

    2. Put boot. Img in phone and open magisk app.
    3. Click on install and select patch boot Image.
    4. Select stock boot. Img file placed in phone memory.
    5. Magisk will automatically patched the stock Image and this patched image can be installed using fastboot.

    I have tried with method with the stock Android Pie ROM, I patched the boot file of the stock rom, flashed it via fasboot, no bootloops, flashes okay, and boots okay but no root after installing Magisk, app says Magisk not installed. Any ideas?

      If someone stuck in bootloop, flash original boot image from stock rom available on asus website.

      No. That didn't worked. You need to flash the whole firmware again
