With that being said, Extreme Syndicate Root is now available!
You can be on any version bootloader. This will update you to V7 bootloader
This method will work if you are on Android 9 Pie but will put you on Android 7 nougat. There is no root for Android 9 Pie
You will not be able to use regular magisk
You will not be able to flash custom rom like Lineage or any other AOSP roms
You cannot flash custom boot images or recovery images such as TWRP
Odin does not work on some later computers with USB 3.1 chip controllers the only work around is using a USB 2.0 mini hub
It is your responsibility to make sure you can use adb properly
Root may break things such as safetynet so deal with it

This is a modified version of @elliwigy Extreme Syndicate Root for S9/N9 modified to work on the SM_N950U/U1 Note 8

- This uses combo firmware to root
- It works on latest rev's from rev7
- This does not root Pie It roots only the combo firmware from there you can flash a rooted nougat rom or run my Stock Pie Rom with safestrap installed

INSTRUCTIONS:
If you didnt upgrade to V8 bootloaders using odin. I recommend flashing full stock firmware with V8 bootloaders even if you are already on V8 bootloader via OTA update. I feel that maybe something in the OTA from V7 bootloaders to V8 may have corrupted a bootloader file and some people have experienced bricks with trying to update to V8 bootloaders from V7 using the below method so I recommend flashing full stock V8 firmware in Odin before trying this method and just understand there has been a risk of bricking device. Full stock can be found on Sammobile or updato or any other service you can find it. You will have to reroot of course. If you Updated to V8 bootloaders using odin method already then no need to do so again
1. Reboot phone to stock recovery and wipe data from stock recovery reboot to bootloader make sure phone is plugged into computer
2. Use provided odin and In odin AP slot load the COMBINATION_FA70_N950USQU8ATF1.tar.md5
3. Once phone is connected and recognized by computer locate the APPS_INSTALLER .bat in the N8_ROOT folder and run the bat. This will install some apps
4. When apps are done reboot phone when phone boots choose pixel launcher as it is easier to find stuff. Open App drawer and click on Factory IME app when open type *#9900# this will open a new window with lots of different test scroll down to AUDIOCORE DEBUG and click. This will open another window select TEST HELPER. This will open another window select Utils. This will open the final window
5. In this window goto the box that says adb command click on box to enter text this will open keyboard. In that box type
chmod -R 0777 /persist
this is chmod then space then hypen then capitol R then space then 0777 then space then forward slash then persist
click return on keyboard then click the send button to the right of the text box it will appear too do nothing now leave window open make sure phone is connected to computer and regonized
6. In S8_ROOt folder run the ROOT_INSTALLER.bat. This will copy stuff to phone. When done phone will reboot when phone boots up you can check if your rooted by running flashfire, Once you reboot phone again you can access safestrap
7.. Now from here you can proceed to install a rooted nougat rom or one of my safestrap pie roms
