Thank you so much for this! Followed instructions on pg 1 and had 0 problems. What's more, this fixed my SD Card Problems! Before, every time I'd put in a new/faster Micro SD, the phone would either shut off completely or just reboot into a screen claiming that there is a CRC error with the memory of the card. Only removing the SD card would let me reboot the phone properly. After doing this and updating the kernel to Sept 4 version, I can insert the new and fast SD Card (UHS-I/U3). MANY THANKS AGAIN!!! Life Safer!!!

Great to hear man this put a big smile on my face. Glad the firmware has been largely a success. Just trying to help out everyone I can. Spread the word about the SD card stuff being better, I've never had sdcard issues so I don't want to personally claim anything. Since it worked for you that's anecdotal evidence it might help others too

Definitely! I saw someone else suggesting something that I thought might mean it fixed their SD card problem, but it wasn't fully clear from their comment. So I thought I'd give it a try as well - had low hopes and was super excited when it worked. Returned my 64GB right away in exchange for an even faster 128GB card. It's nice to be able to use the S8+ to its fullest potential and have a prefect card for 4k video and such.
Thanks again. Been looking on other forums and if I see anyone else with Micro SD card problems, I will definitely send them this way!

I wanted to thank the poster for the details on this, but I did want to say that flashing these 4 files from the new combo did not resolve the occasional screen glitch issue. I actually feel it happens more now than before... But a quick tap on/off on the power button solves it... Just saying.

Thank you for the information.

What firmware and baseband are you running? It looks like some combinations are less than compatible

And what 4 files did you flash? The post does not talk about 4

edit: was just abit irritated this morning lol but to beclear, SamPWND does not approve of this as a "fix" or are we associated with it..

its misleading and should be posted as an updated combo firm thread since thats all it is, nothing more, nothing less

myself and others have reported this updated firmware does not fix anything

dont agree its labeled as SamPWND and a "fix" but what can ya do lol

again, the 4 files from combo firm are ABL, DEVCFG, BOOT AND RECOVERY

telling ppl to only update the boot is not a good suggestion.. in fact that means they will most likely have firmware from 3 separate firmwares.. whatever rom they are using, old combo firm abl, devcfg and recovery and then a new combo firm boot.. how would this help anything??

i dont expect u to grasp that orchange your thread but if anyoneasks me orasks in the official Sampwnd thread i will recommend updating 4 files, not just the boot as well as let them know its not a "fix" and will most likely still have some screen glitches..

Hey @elliwigy. Thanks for all you do. While this may not fix screen issues, it really did fix my SD card not being read. Just saying. On the original SamPWND forum I asked if anyone had a fix for SD Cards not working properly a while back and was just referred back to Samsung's forums saying others without root have had this issue. I have seen a few others with SD Card problems as well on the SamPWND forum. So maybe it's at least worth mentioning that upgrading to a new combo firmware may fix that on your forum, too. Again, don't mean to criticize or anything. Just saying that this was a life safer for me (as of course was the original root!) :good:

bcuz technically sd card issues are not an issue of sampwnd so its obviously not something that should be listed asit should be obvious any issues in stock samsung will also be present on a rooted device and it shuld also be obvious (id hope) that samsung works to fix bugs in later updates so that also should be obvious

im not surprised that sammy fixed sd card issues in newer firmware..

i just dont like the idea of someone posting a "fix" when they really didntdo any dev work and it doesnt actually fix te issue it claims to do (glitchy screen.)

itsalways recommended to update to latest firmware if possible and all this thread is, is a post with an updated combo firm and surely its garnered alot of views and tjanks just bcuz he uses the SamPWND title and claims its a sure fix when anyone could create a threafd with stock unmodded files from samsung

then i get pms from ppl about this thread andso called fix about how its not working and i have to explain over and over again i am in no way affiliated, its not afix and its just updated files from samsung lol all bcuz he labels it as Sampwnd and that its afix when its not.. misleading

if it fixed sdcard issues, OP didnt fix it, samsung did, he mearely just uploaded the firmwareand created a thread

so basically its misleading and causes more problems for others such asmyself bcuz of it

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THAT. I followed your directions to flash the 4 above files from the listed combo firmware... which did flash correctly, but like I said earlier - I feel I'm getting more screen glitching now more so than before the flash (using the original sampwnd files). I'm sure everyone's method will vary. For the record I'm using one of @jrkruse rom's and the Tmobile CP/CSC...

Also to be clear, its not horrible or anything, its easy to see when the screen is glitched, and a simple double tap of the power button fixes it. When the screen does glitch the refresh rate is terrible... very laggy and has a weird dark tint (I'm sure other's have seen this) and like I said double tapping the power button solves it then the screen comes back at the correct brightness level, colors are correct and the refresh rate and speed is back to normal. THANKS TO THE OP AND TO @elliwigy for chiming it and posting the 4 files, I would have sworn I saw that list in this thread - but it was obviously from another thread - but I used the combo files from this thread AQI1
