First of all, I'd like to thank @runningnak3d and @xrosser for all the work you guys have done. I just received my US997 in the mail today with my hopes as high as the sky, yet little did I know there was a US997z variant (US Cellular) and that just so happened to be the lucky locked bootloader model I actually got. I just wanted to clarify, do you need a single US997 with unlock.bin to make root available to (almost) all, or does everyone who wants to root individually need to sacrifice their own US997 with unlock.bin to achieve root? I'm not offering up my locked up G6, but if all you need is one to make it happen for all, I am willing to buy one in about a month just for you to sacrifice.

From what I understood You only need 1 device to be sacrificed in order to unlock all the G6. If i had to buy another G6 and pay another 300 dollars just to get bootloader unlock I would really consider getting a new phone. 
Why don't we use the money that have been pledged to pay for the phone for You and then whomever is able to unlock it?

That is correct .. only one US997. Just to be clear, the phone doesn't get damaged, but the IMEI will be toast.

Picked one up for a good price, I checked imeipro and it does say that it's the USA variant (I checked my US Cellular one out of curiosity, and it does show the UCL designation for that one). I'm hoping that once it arrives in the mail that it can be unlocked officially through the LG Dev site and I'll report back once I know for sure. If it can, you've got a device headed your way @runningnak3d. Let's get this thing done once and for all :good:
Good luck. When I unlocked my V30 US998 (before WTF bootloader exploit), I had to provide receipt proving I bought it from authorized retailer.

That's good to know, I'm hoping that it just lets me unlock it. There's no hurt in trying, I have a connection through work that I used to get this one and can return it if it doesn't work out. If worse comes to worse I'll buy one from one of their listed authorized retailers, but if this one works, we are one step closer

Modern phone OS's are mature now so trying to get a few more IU tweaks is not worth the time and hassle, or risk to your phone.

?.Oreo is just fine. just like to play with my phone's a little more. Yes it is "just a freaking phone". For the sake of my frustration me and my old p.o.s. G6 will take our toys and go to the other side of the play ground.
