Can yo explain with details the "hardest part" please?

Thanks
I just wasn't getting the adb to recognize the device (tablet) first of all but eventually realised that Win 7 was using the driver for my Samsung sgs2 instead of the tab. Went into Win7 Devices and clicked on the Sony. Then all went as per the readme.
Good luck. :)

I can't see "/data/local/tmp/" under Sony Tablet S i see "USB storage" so moved files under SDcard folder and tried to run the doit.sh through root explorer on tablet but it crashes.

Is there a way to run this from W7 directly like the the motochopper method?

Thanks for the suggestion, i've done it.

i've uploaded a new version v4 (which contains a new script doit.sh) which you can execute on the host pc, so the rest is done automatically, perhaps you can look at that and create a pendand batch file.....
it also contains a new binary run_root_sh_script, because it was not possible to automate the whole thing before, because the script automatically stopped when the run_root_shell binary was executed.

Motochopper only works with the Jelly Bean kernel, for r5a use Condi's toolkit has previously mentioned.

Beautiful, Condi's toolkit did it flawlessly!!!

Many thanks jumper62 & andyabc for the pointer.

I've read that we could flash this S to the Z release, is this the correct procedure (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050126) and choose R6B?

No no no, you cannot just simply flash an other rom from a different device to your device.
If you dare attempt you will either get a soft brick (you can avoid it with the Boot thingy from Condi's tools) or a hard brick, the tablet would be a perfect paperweight (*cough* An expensive one). :p

Thanks for the heads up! I was under the understanding that it could be "safely" done after reading this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41174558&postcount=28) referring to these dump files (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40427972&postcount=338) but i must admit that i still don't know/understand how:)

Here is the quote from the "Easy root 4.1.1 sgpt12 " thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268646&page=3)

I have completely transformed my device into the Xperia Tablet Z, all sounds, widgets, home launcher, boot animation.

All from the system dumps in the Xperia Tablet Z thread. This is SOOO awesome!

MB2 doesn't work though..

I believe what is being referred to is installing bits and pieces from the Xperia Tablet Z, not flashing the XTZ's entire ROM to a STS or XTS.

KingRoot v4.9.6 does it ALL!!! :D

I think this should really be linked here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320283
Just done it, after loosing root while accidentally updating to r5a i can confirm i gained root again with that!
I guess thats kind of cool and should be implemented in the all in one rooting stuff and everything

Here you can find a little zipfile with all the needed Files and a README which describes How-To do it:
https://d1sturbed.org/android/root-r5a-v3.zip
there is also a v4, which contains a new binary and a new script...on Linux you now can just unzip the v4 and then execute doit.sh (perhaps someone can pass me a doit.bat or something, i guess it could run as a batch file for windows, but since i'm to sleepy and lazy to reboot into windows it's untestet. but you can try by removing the first line and rename to .bat)

Hey guys, i have managed to root my Sony Tablet S (sgpt111gb/s) with the KingRoot app which you can download from the link below. You download APK on your device and install it as you would do normally and just run it and watch the show! I have to say that latest version of KingRoot DID NOT WORK with ver. 4.0.3 r5a currently installed on my tablet s but i've downloaded ''kingroot_global'' (link below) and it worked like a charm! My Sony Table S is now rooted :D
P.S. THIS ALSO WORKS FOR ALL OTHER ANDROID TABLETS/PHONES!
Link: kingroot dot net download or look for version 4.9.6_C151_B299....;):fingers-crossed:
