Navigate to the OP of that thread and try the standard version and latest magisk version?

Which of the versions u tried?
I tried all of them when I was using hybrid all I had was a few reboots , then flashed something wrong, then went back to cre4 and tried all reboots but came up with errors besides systemless root just wasn't able to flash xposed in the end I'm thinking system partition wasn't being mounted as r/w as when I would flash using flashfire it just rebooted after loading the black and white loader screen ,which versions have been successfully flashed ,v2 systemless root works good with xposed on hybrid rom but not stick cre4 rom just the root worked ,magisk also didn't work properly

Ok. Whew finally caught up with all the posts. Great job getting root in an easy installable way for us mere mortals!

I'll have to try testing it on the hybrid ROM. Has it been tested on both stock and hybrid? I'm assuming @jrkruse tested it with his hybrid, right?

I'm going to see if I can test this later this week.

From what I've read, will do hybrid ROM, v4 root system, volte fix, xposed, profit?

Install systemless root, then selinux permissive apk, followed by the latest busybox to /sbin, older busybox to system/sbin or xbin. I did all 3. Then wipe cache. Reboot. Uninstall all bloatware (be safe). Using xposed installer 3.15, install latest xposed (90.3 I think). When you reboot the phone won't go past att logo. A new message will tell u about unauthorized crap. If you reset it will keep happening. I reflashed stock boot.img. wouldn't boot. Reflashed eng.img, followed by multiple factory data reset. Reflash, reset over & over. It booted. I rooted it with systemless 2 be safe. All the bloatware was still gone & when I installed xposed 3.15 apk, it was already active. I almost softbricked using gravity box & flat status icon modules. System ui kept closing. Make sure the battery is charged. Mine was dead that may have been some of the issue. But that's how I installed xposed system framework. Been working great all day, I'm only using firefds, greenify, 3c. Kinda nervous installing mods for the first time. I'd hate to have to Odin back to stock att cre4.

Hey everybody, got the 8.0 rooted while at work. Just flashed V4A through flashfire. The V4A apk was installed to /system/priv-app. Went into V4A and it asked me to install the driver. I hit yes to install and it said successful and to reboot my device. I did so and the phone boot-looped once and finally got back to home screen. Went into V4A and checked driver status and it says it's not installed and V4A is not working. Just giving an update on MY progress with it on 8.0. Also downloaded SELinux Mode Changer App and it did let me successfully change SELinux to permissive.

In thinking oreo uses a different method than music fx as standard ,or we aren't really getting r/w

I will try that in about an hour or so. Ok, so that debloat script I flashed really messed things up. After a factory reset Busy Box and the Play Store where still crashing. I ended up having to Odin things back to stock then re-rooting. Once that was all said and done, I flashed the Dolby Atoms zip. I hate to say that I have myself a bootloop to deal with now.

I'm new to Flashfire though so it may be an opperater error, lol. I flashed it by itself, I chose "FLash Zip or OTA" then checked "Mount Write/Rewrite" only.

So this does in fact wipe data?
One of the awesome things about this is that it doesn't wipe data. The wiping data part comes in as so as you flash something that has the slightest bit of uncompatibility, lol. At least in my case. I'm also new to Flashfire though. Trail and error seems to be my go to method :D

Side note, if anyone gets Xposed working on this or has it on different phone, there is a really cool module called "Perfect ColorBars" that I just came across. It works very well with S8

Just tried flashing the Android 8.0 AdBlock Host zip file from @jrkruse with flashfire and had no luck. Clicked on set system r/w also and it dint work. Still trying some stuff. No adblock yet. Will I have to use the safestrap to install all this crap despite being rooted?

I'll give it a shot, I was just about time factory reset anyways. Actually, systemless SU is working wonderfully for me, no Xposed though, which I could probably live without. The reason for the factory reset is that I flashed a debloat script and now Busy Box keeps crashing and the Play Store also. Not in the mode to figure out why, Lol. I will try the Dolby Atmos now and report back

I flashed it with Flash fire twice and it didn't seem to do anything, not even an Dolby icon. I placed the files myself in priv-app and installed the apk, tried to open the app but I keep getting a message saying Dolby Atmos has stopped working. I then changed the permissions to 0755 (I always forget about permissions). I got the same result. Im pretty sure the permissions where originally correct from looking at Dolby in the rooted S8 I have . like I said earlier that debloat script messed my phone up pretty good. I just did the reset. I have to go through the setup once again, Lol. Then I will try again
Yep, it happened again. Long story short, do not flash Dolby Atmos. At least that version

If you dont choose to mount system in flashfire when the dialog comes up it won't flash anything

V5 is up in the Op with redone root.bat. Systemless root is gone if you flashed it I suggest reflashing oreo firmware and rerooting with V5 from the OP.
I added init.d support via su.d. with some init.d tweaks if you dont want them delete the ones you dont want from the su.d folder. I have the root bat now install the secure storage bypass lib files so if you use xposed there will not be a BT paring problem or Wifi password problem. I updated the Su files on the system root to full SR5 2.82 SuperSu. For lag I highly recommend this app sEFix from the playstore. set it to high and watch the lag go away

I thought the way android mm,n,and oreo don't use entropy the same as lollipop and kitkat as they did need to be set at high settings for greater performance speed as it had to with memory,I had set those setting before but didn't see any changes since setting wouldn't stick and would default

Hey buddy...sorry lol. I'm on G935V Verizon stock system rooted(not systemless) 8.0 right now without Safestrap or any other mods. Just rooted it today and been trying to flash zips with flashfire all evening with no success.
