[ROOT][GUIDE] Install Viper for Android on Galaxy S8/S8+

I followed all the instructions stated in the op. and the driver status is as it should be, also 'Processing: Yes' during Spotify-playback. I can hear Viper4Android works when I cast Spotify over wifi to my speakers but I don't hear media on Youtube or Spotify playing through the phone speaker or headset anymore (videos in Chrome are audible, also music on the Soundcast webpage BUT not in the Soundcast-app). I installed this already 3 times from scratch (re-flashed stock rom in Odin, TWRP, Magisk...). Everything still worked after I froze 'Soundalive' and changed the 'audio_effects.conf' file but as soon as I flashed the Magisk-module and rebooted, the problem occurred. Does anyone have an idea how I could solve this? Your help is much appreciated.

Are you using compatibility mode? I have to use compatibility mode to get any effects, but when I do, it breaks YouTube sound. One workaround I found is: on fresh reboot, turn off Viper. Start playing YouTube and while it's playing, turn back on Viper. If the issue comes up again, turn off viper, pause YouTube playback disconnect and reconnect bluetooth, resume playback.

Are you using compatibility mode? I have to use compatibility mode to get any effects, but when I do, it breaks YouTube sound. One workaround I found is: on fresh reboot, turn off Viper. This won't work for my US Verizon Galaxy S8 as the bootloader is locked, hence , no Magisk.

The author of that post has a series of Dolby Atmos mods and a v4a mod that use his audiomodlib. You do not need magisk for them to install it says in the description magisk or system.

I could not recommend Ahiron's work. My installs of his viper and Atmos are perfect

Thank you! When you say "I could not recommend", I'm guessing that's a typo as you are using Ahiron's work in that link you provided?

I flashed his AML 2.0 and then viper v2.5, both using flash fire, and viper finally works however is kinda buggy. Biggest bug was when I turn on viper it sounds like audio is routed 75% out of left side and 25% the right side. When I switch viper off, the audio balance goes back to normal. I noticed in his thread he makes mention of AML v2.1-2.3 but on his AFH only has 1.4 and a 2.0.

Sorry you had trouble with it. Both run on top of sauron on my system absolutely flawlessly.

What device are you using?? What version of system? It's. Long shot but perhaps you have more outdated drivers ?

Canadian S8+, rooted using the sampwnd method from the other thread. On a side note, I've used viper on every android phone I've ever owned, along with desktop version. Really fantastic bit of software!

Edit: Fixed, flashed Sauron audio mod, and noticed channel pan was off. All is well. Everything sounds amazing.

I was going to suggest if you are still running sampwnd root bootloader files you really should consider upgrading. I'm not sure why, but myself and many others have experienced a significantly better looking display using modern firmware.

You can download the "non system" BL one from the new SamFAIL root method thread (just ignore the system download and extra flash instructions) and just flash it in odin like anything else. Does not touch userdata or system

Gave it a try in comsey odin and it failed with...

Gave it a try, and got a "FAIL! SHA256 is invalid" error in Odin. I used the Hybrid Stock/Combination Full Firmware (minus userdata and system) For Rooted Devices. (AQI6 Stock, AQI1 Combo (for Flashing in Odin): BL_SamFAIL_G950U1_HYBRID_AQI6_STOCK_AQI1_COMBOtar. tar) from your op.

**Edit** yes I know what happened there my bad. You need a s8+ package lol I somehow swapped what device you had in my head. Auth fail working as intended in that case!

I need to cook up samfail for the s8+ anyway so I may as well get the driver/bl rom package up sooner rather than later. I'll let you know as soon as I have something up

Apk based installs are trickier you have to follow their directions to install the drivers. I dont know anything about it I've only used the audiomodlib viper successfully

After I followed your guide I have no sound for any music apps all other sounds work do you know how I can fix this I'm using sm-g955f stock with magisk and twrp
