You guys are amazing. So if I'm donating, who deserves it for this? Tungkick and autoprime for sure, anyone else help get the 10d tot working? I'm broke so it's not going to pay your kids through college or anything, but you guys deserve recognition and I don't think the forum thanks button suffices.
Tungkick and wolfu11 for sure, their the ones who made the TOT. autoprime also, he released the official TOT that this was based on. I only tested and wrote the new guide.

So ultimately your call

the step to format data should be optional... I'm not sure why wiping data encryption is wanted by everyone.

I leave data encryption enabled (I don't format data) and everything works just fine.. except I can't use my internal storage while in TWRP. but I can use the external sd just fine.. or just adb push or adb sideload a file once booted in twrp... or just stick a file in "cache" as I believe that is also never encrypted.

I'm not saying don't ever format data.. just that it should be optional and people should be shown why or why not.

when you flash supersu it disables force encrypt and your data stays unencrypted... unless you manually reenable it.

ROOT CONFIRMED + How To Root Guide!

View attachment 3812997

How to:

Step 1) Install LGUP H830_DLL and LG Mobile Driver Once all 3 have installed on your PC, reboot your PC

Step 2) Download the Rooted 10D TOT and extract it (if you don't have software that can handle a RAR file, I recommend you use 7-Zip)

Step 3) Power your G5 off (or pull out the Battery) then connect your charger to your PC. Once your charger is plugged it, plug it into your device while holding the volume up button. This will place your device into "Download Mode". Now open LGUP (Run as administrator) then make sure to select your device. Once you've selected your device, select "UPGRADE" then in the section below it, click the File Path area and select the TOT you got from extracting the RAR and click "Start".

Step 4) As your device begins to flash, download DM-Verity Disabler and SuperSU

Step 5) Once your device reboots, pull the battery out of it for about 5 seconds then put it back into the device and enter TWRP (Hold volume down + power button and make sure to hold it as the device boots then after about 1 second release the power button and push it down again, then say "Yes" to factory reset for both prompts). Once in TWRP wipe your data partition TWICE (wipe > advanced > Data) then install SuperSU and DM-Verify Disabler.

Step 6) Reboot

Note: If you get stuck inside of TWRP (even though your reboot, you boot back into TWRP) run these commands in the terminal (Advanced > Terminal)

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot
Sorry to ask but do i need to unlock bootloader first then fallow your instructions?

Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I have attempted several times to root my phone. Following the guide step by step.
I get to
Step 5) Once your device reboots, pull the battery out of it for about 5 seconds then put it back into the device and enter TWRP (Hold volume down + power button and make sure to hold it as the device boots then after about 1 second release the power button and push it down again, then say "Yes" to factory reset for both prompts). When I finish this step I reboot my phone, it keeps booting to Encrypting data what have I done wrong?

ROOT CONFIRMED + How To Root Guide!
Update: Added a missing step (enable OEM Unlocking)

Step 3) Enable developer options (Settings > About Phone > Build Number (Tap several times) then go back and open the Developer Options menu and enable "OEM Unlocking" and "USB Debugging"

Step 4) Power your G5 off (or pull out the Battery) then connect your charger to your PC.

Once in TWRP go into the wipe section and "Swipe To Factory Reset" (do this twice) then install DM-Verify Disabler and SuperSU (in that order).

Step 7) Reboot

Note: If you get stuck inside of TWRP (even though your reboot, you boot back into TWRP) run these commands in the terminal (Advanced > Terminal)

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot

Thanks for the V10d tot.

I flashed it and did the factory reset, got to teamwin, but it fails to wipe data. Is my next step advanced<terminal? Or what should I check?

edit: reboot loops back to twrp, so I did the terminal commands, reboot to LG, turn on oem unlock and usb debugging, reboot volumn down+power to get to twrp. Wipe data works!

??In twrp, how do i flash supersu when those files on my pc?

You can use ADB sideload, Put the files on a SDCard and move them to the device, Use a OTG Cable/Adapter or boot into your system and move the files onto your phone

I believe that provided you have wiped data once before to root and unencrypt, you will not need to wipe data again to upgrade.

Did you get it going? I had some problems, and after a few hours finally had all my little errors corrected. Main thing was drivers for the phone, then I was trying to flash V10a on a V10d phone, then the phone kept resetting the oem unlock + usb debugging, after that, several flashes and reading every tutorial and youtube video, it almost completed. Thankfully, we were provided with the terminal commands and that finished the install.

i got it booted with kdz but we all know its innevitable im gonna try this again so with a little luck and careful reading ill get it this time. something went wrong after i wiped data but maybe this time i wont wipe data. one question though, when twrp asks to modify partition should i let it? my oppo find7 always said "no os installed" when i did this so im not sure what to do at that part.
