i got it booted with kdz but we all know its innevitable im gonna try this again so with a little luck and careful reading ill get it this time. something went wrong after i wiped data but maybe this time i wont wipe data. one question though, when twrp asks to modify partition should i let it? my oppo find7 always said "no os installed" when i did this so im not sure what to do at that part.
I can't remember my answer, lol. I was whooped as I had been running through it so many times and being a newb to adb and command, I really can't remember. I've rooted before, but once it's done, I'm done. I don't develop or experiment.

edit: I guess I'm experimenting now, lol. But I just bought the tmobile version because it could be rooted. It arrived last night and I started with the tutorial at the beginning of the thread and LG UP keep throwing an error (because my version was the V10d). This phone is not my primary phone as of yet, but it will be Monday. In my case, I have root and that's what i want in a daily driver.

ook i got it! so for anyone in the future with the encrypting screen, there is a difference in wiping and formatting data. make sure you format data and dont just wipe. possibly make a not of this in the guide for anyone having issues. thanks for the video @23good

Successfull attempt on 10a

Many thanks for the info.... The procedure went flawlessly for me. I admit that I did watch the YouTube video as well to familiarize myself with LG UP, but the experience was great reading this post in conjunction with the video. I didn't experience a boot loop in TWRP so I guess those who do may have had bad downloads. One thing I did different from here was I flashed the the no-verity 1st, then the latest SU 2.76 2nd. I think this post says the other way around.

One thing I need to find now is the com.t-mobile.pr.adapt file. It requested SU access and I ignorantly granted it permission....then I went in SU to deny it access.... When I look for it with Titanium Backup I don't see it! I want to freeze it.

It's definitely there so maybe use the titanium search function?

One thing I couldn't locate were the OTA services to disable. I used the app system tuner to disable them on 10a but can't find them now on 10d. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: Nevermind, was looking in the wrong apk. And the disable survived the dirty flash.

I searched and can't find com.t-mobile.pr.adapt.
Its gone! Like after it obtained root it deleted itself.

Also, on 10a where can I wipe the OTA download my phone received?

Update ver 10d h830
ROOT CONFIRMED + How To Root Guide!
How to:

Step 1) Install LGUP H830_DLL and LG Mobile Driver Once all 3 have installed on your PC, reboot your PC

Step 2) Download the Rooted 10D TOT and extract it (if you don't have software that can handle a RAR file, I recommend you use 7-Zip)

Step 3) Power your G5 off (or pull out the Battery) then connect your charger to your PC. Once your charger is plugged it, plug it into your device while holding the volume up button. This will place your device into "Download Mode". Now open LGUP (Run as administrator) then make sure to select your device. Once you've selected your device, select "UPGRADE" then in the section below it, click the File Path area and select the TOT you got from extracting the RAR and click "Start".

Step 4) As your device begins to flash, download DM-Verity Disabler and SuperSU

Step 5) Once your device reboots, pull the battery out of it for about 5 seconds then put it back into the device and enter TWRP (Hold volume down + power button and make sure to hold it as the device boots then after about 1 second release the power button and push it down again, then say "Yes" to factory reset for both prompts). Once in TWRP wipe your data partition TWICE (wipe > advanced > Data) then install SuperSU and DM-Verify Disabler.

Step 6) Reboot

Note: If you get stuck inside of TWRP (even though your reboot, you boot back into TWRP) run these commands in the terminal (Advanced > Terminal)

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot

Version v10a:

Quote:
- IF phone bootloop twrp
Use command adb shell fix:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot

Done

Sorry bad english if not done can try method this:
For root and recovery:

1. Install LGUP + DLL H830. Enabable usb debugging + check oem unlock> adb reboot bootloader> fastboot oem unlock.
Enable developer, enable developer options, enable factory oem unlock
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock (wait for device erase)
fastboot getvar unlocked -> returns yes
fastboot reboot
2. Put phone downloadmod ( turn of phone> hold volume up connect cable)
3. Open LGUP> Choose UPGRADE > choose file tot extract h830> Start
4. Put phone twrp> flash super su + dm-verify> reboot >Done
When you get into TWRP the first thing you must do is Wipe->Format and wipe all the data. That removes the encryption
adb push blah.zip /sdcard/. Before you can do this, system must be checked under mount.

Enable Developer Options In Android 6.0 Marshmallow
1. Hold Sqare (bottom right) then select System Settings.
2. Go to General then About phone.
3. Go to Software info then on tap build number untill you see a prompt that says ‘You are now a developer!’

TWRP Recovery:
1. Power off device.
2. Hold power and vol down button.
3. Wait until lg logo appears.
4. Release power button only for one second while continuing to hold vol down. After the second elapsed press and hold the power button until it boots into recovery.

OR

adb reboot recovery

If stuck in TWRP bootloop, just use the terminal feature in TWRP and type these commands:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota

OR

Use command adb shell fix:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
reboot

How to disable OTAs (might be able to use other methods with root):
adb shell "su -c 'pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.SystemUpdateService$ActiveReceiver'"
adb shell "su -c 'pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.SystemUpdateService$Receiver'"
adb shell "su -c 'pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver'"

Android Pay fix (permissions for /su/bin):
run "adb shell"
from adb shell run "su"
from adb shell run "chmod 751 /su/bin"
OR
Use file explorer

To verify:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
echo BINDSYSTEMXBIN=false>>/data/.supersu

******************************************************************************************************************
If Boot Verification Failed error > download stock full flash again>> enabable usb debugging + oem unlock> adb reboot bootloader> fastboot oem unlock> then up file tot add twrp again

Try my GUIDE

@tungkick can you please update the OP with the content inside of my guide? Thank you:good:
just a suggestion but possibly in your guide make a note that the format data option will get rid of the encrypt screen whereas the wipe data will not. and as someone else stated the dm-verity might need to be flashed before supersu to prevent the bootloop. these worked for me and others so this might help people in the event of. :good:

Stuck in the first loop in "Encrypting" :(
try format data and type yes to confirm instead of wiping data. let me know if this works. :good:
