Add ADB instructions to OP plz

I think these ADB Bootloader Unlock Instructions should be added to this thread's OP:

Just to clarify a few things for my sanity. The instructions wolfu11 put in for the N6 are not correct. Also the steps for the H850 where you have to download a special unlock file are also incorrect. The correct steps are to do:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock (wait for device erase)
fastboot getvar unlocked -> returns yes
reboot, get the terrifying triangle warning
I did the above steps without issues on my H830 and hope I won't need another reset.
It worked for me just now.

How do you boot to twrp after flashing?
Fastboot reboot recovery ?

Edit:Never mind.

Found this

1. Power off device.
2. Hold power and vol down button.
3. Wait until lg logo appears.
4. Release power button only for one second while continuing to hold vol down. After the second elapsed press and hold the power button until it boots into recovery.

I'm in this same boat. I unlocked with fastboot first, then flashed the tot.
1. Power off phone
2. Hold volumn down + power
3. Phone comes up to a pin link screen that says enter PIN to unlock 30/30 attempts remaining

Also followed the instructions on the website about unsigned drivers disabled whatever it was. Still not working. Sorry I'm not trying to annoy you. I've been up since 7 last night it's now 11:49 here. Was following the thread from work. I might try to get some rest I'll check back when I wake up. Thanks for the help.

Hit cancel, then swipe to enable modification. This is assuming you saw the TWRP logo come up.

Otherwise it sounds like you may have a pin to boot enabled in the system. Once you reach 30, it will wipe your phone and I believe clear the pin requirement.

Rooted!

So thankful! I've finally got the G5 rooted and TWRP'd up proper.

So can TWRP read the internal storage to make backups or no? Do I need to format data or something to make it be able to?

You need to have adb installed first. You can read about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141817

You need to download the Android SDK: https://dl.google.com/android/installer_r24.4.1-windows.exe and install it to C:\android-sdk\ Then you need to run the SDK Manager.exe and download the platform-tools. Type cmd in the Windows search bar. Copy cmd.exe from there. Go to the directory where you have installed android-sdk. Go to platform-tools folder. Paste cmd.exe there, right click on it and in the settings, select Run as Administrator. This is where you will enter the ADB commands.

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock (wait for device erase)
fastboot getvar unlocked -> returns yes
reboot, get the terrifying triangle warning

Should be good to go!

To get to TWRP enter:
adb reboot recovery

It was the LG G5 file encryption. The missing step, that should be in the first post, is when you get into TWRP the first thing you must do is Wipe->Format and wipe all the data. That removes the encryption. I got that information out of the H850 recovery thread.

So even though I just restored everything, I can still go back into TWRP and wipe it now? and it will be all good?

In regards to this question:

UPDATE: The answer was yes. I went back in and wiped data and now TWRP can make backups!

Right here
Excellent work! Personally tho, I think I'm gonna sit back and watch what happens over the next few weeks before I root mine.
-Also... How is this going to act when OTA's come thru? Meaning will an OTA wipe this progress and put you back to stock, or potentially even soft brick the device?
