Root acquired! Also was able to do it via parallels. Had to install drivers, restart, and had to connect and reconnect the phone a couple times to get it recognized as H830 instead of unknown. Good to go now!

Really thank you for the help

Just use the terminal feature in TWRP and type these commands:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota

Can you or someone else elaborate on what this is doing, how and if it works, and how to undo it if desired after applying it? Does it really make Android Pay work again? Especially considering this?

Thanks
There's this thread here which goes more into Android Pay. Seems like it is working for some people there at least.

Worse comes to worst, you temporarily disable root through SuperSU, then re-enable. Kind of an annoyance though.

so i followed the directions and twrp was asking for a password so i had to do a reset within twrp then flash the two zips superuser and dm verify but now it reboots and it says its in the progress of encrypting phone, its been doing it for about ten minutes and i havent seen progress, I know ive seen reports of it taking like 5 hours, but since its a fresh install no apps shouldnt i I have seen progress by now?

pull battery

Reboot into recovery. Wipe factory + full format

Reboot into recovery a second time, then flash the two zips. The dmverify zip is required to disable encryption (as the name suggests)

Then you shouldn't see the encrypt screen during boot

I don't believe so. T-Mobile H830's have the ability to unlock the bootloader where VZW does not. Unlocking the bootloader is a key step in this process.
I apologize for not knowing everything clearly. Its been hard to keep track of things. I thought the T-mobile bootloader was actually locked all along? Or what did they do differently from the international edition that took root until now?

Thank you

The bootloader was not locked, you could always do oem unlock once booted into the bootloader. The issue was (and still is) the fastboot commands needed to flash a custom recovery were not included by LG in the bootloader. This is why we had to have the tot with TWRP integrated in order to flash a custom recovery and in turn acquire root for the device.

VZW and others do not allow oem unlock, so that prevents even a tot image from flashing a custom recovery.

Wish I saw this while I was still in the NOC. I'll boot up and rar, up and provide link.
