I tried xbin with no difference. I didn't try sbin yet.

I had also tried other applications with no success.

SDMaid tells me that I have free space on my system partition.

Though it doesn't need root and I'm weirded out by that (especially because it stores the BB binaries inside the app's data folder).

first, i'm an android noob so i need your help, my device is Archos 70 Internet Tablet Gen 8, i already rooted it using the guide on the first post on this thread. But i don't see the improvement so i want to ask some question.

1. do i need to replace the firmware? wha is the best?
2. how can i install apps on SD card?
3. what are the best apps should i install , in this rooted device. What is the use of superuser app?

1. If you think rooting by itself is gonna help you, nope. Try overclocking, getting swap, enabling zRam, installing CM7 or Urukdroid etc.
2. Increase your /data partitions. If you don't want to hassle with it, go with UrukDroid.
3. This tablet is OLD. So intensive apps won't run on it (i.e. Temple run and such).

I just wanted to make sure I got the right result.

I followed the instructions in first post and when I boot and choose Dev Edition I get my normal stock Archos firmware 2419 (my fav) and it is indeed rooted, according to "Root Checker Basic". When I just boot normally (not hold down volume, not choose Dev) it is not rooted, according to "Root Checker". Is this the proper result? I used the "fw 2.4.19 +rw" files that are supposed to make for permanent. Unless I misunderstood the instructions I thought the difference between temp and perm was not having to boot to the Dev Edition every time. What's the diff between temp and perm?

btw thanks for your reply :good:, so if i'm gonna install UrukDroid , can you teach me how? by the way i just want to maximize the use of this old tablet either way this is not my main tablet at all. And i want also to learn how to tweak some tablet (android) like this

i think you miss something on the instruction you have to delete some to make it permanent( i forgot the term). Read it again

Ok, my brain is fried and now swollen (can you see it?) from hours of reading today. I realized I was reading step 4 and there were no connections in my synapse happening. Deleted Android Kernal and NOW permanent root, meaning you boot straight to Dev Ed and bypass Regular.

Have you got the sde menu (power on + volume up).
If yes you can recover your tab by this way.

Strange that it doesn't worked, try to reinstall the kernel and the initramfs with the last firmware frim archos website. I have this pb sometimes. (Black screen after the first logo)

Unfortunately the phone doesn't get to the recovery menu. I turn it on, the power indicator turns on for a second and then turns off. So there's even no boot screen. I cannot try the volume button because it is not mechanical. It is only a touch button located on a touch screen. I saw a couple of posts where people say, that this killed their 35 home phones too, like in my case. Do I have a chance for recovery? Maybe I have to connect some contacts on its board?

So I had installed UrukDroid 1.6 on my Home Connect 35. I removed it, and removed SDE and went back to 100% stock for a while. Wanted to root again.

I rebooted and got into recovery and followed Step 1 and installed the SDE. Now whenever I try to go into recovery, I get a white screen and the device reboots. It will boot into stock-non-rooted Android just fine. However I can no longer access the recovery menu for whatever reason. It appeared it went through alright, and said updating firmware when it did install SDE.. but no luck.

Any ideas on how to come back from this?

Managed to get it to work. I plopped the stock 2.4.83 firmware file on the internal storage while it was in the OS from my PC. It prompted to update. It ran through, and after I was able to get to recovery just fine, and SDE was enabled. Was able to flash rooted kernel and such. Working fine!

Problem of battery?
Try to charge the tab one full night and retry to power on the tab.

I did exactly as you say. Then I tested the battery with a voltmeter. It shows 4.57 Volts. I think the battery is good
