First of all you have to post your Software information (settings/Info/Software-Informations/more)
Kernel-Version
3.10.73-perf-gb10289f
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT

Baseband-Version
[email protected]_29.05_F

Build-Nummer
1.10.401.7 CL635503 release-keys

Is that helpful?

Initial question was if this root tutorial also run with the european / german unlocked version?
With which files?
Thanks a lot!

adb shell getprop ro.build.fingerprint
adb server is out of date. killing...

So, tried using the US Unlocked boot.img, did that. But that seems to be for 639737.5 and not .6 for the US Unlocked. Tried to install/flash recovery gives a must be S-Off error message, then it won't boot, stuck at logo/unlocked warning white screen.

So had to take the backup boot.img file and flash it to get it to boot again into the OS and back to the stock boot.img.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Ok, I would recommend you post this person's 639737.6 boot.img version with SU. It worked with my phone now, and I was able to then install TWRP and wipe data and get root.

I downloaded the SU boot image, second link, but grabbed both for fun. And flashing TWRP worked fine after that. But, still not able to push SU.img to the /data partition. Can't do it in TWRP, I downloaded the one off of TWRP's website.

There's no A9 build on the TeamWin website. Are you talking about my TWRP thread?

Right, I pulled the twrp from the thread.

Issue is, after wiping phone, I'm still unable to get the su.img pushed to /data. Not sure if I'm supposed to mount, or do ADB sideload...instructions in the first post and around the thread are kind of all over the place or missing information that is important, like my post above about putting the .6 img zip file in the original TS post, because the one that is there won't work since my phone is showing a .6 for the unlocked, and not .5 posted version.

Thanks

When you say "wipe," you mean "Format Data", correct? (they aren't the same thing)

My steps to Root:

1) Unlocked phone via HTCDev

2) Downloaded and had to use the 639737.6 boot.img version with SU posted in this thread. It worked with my phone now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=254

3) Then install the TWRP per the link to that version in the original post.
https://basketbuild.com/devs/Captain_Throwback/One (A9)/Recovery/TWRP

4) Format Data after booting to TWRP recovery.

5) Reboot recovery immediately so that disables encryption.

6) Download and copy the SU Beta Version from link in first post, then Beta link in SU thread. Flash that via TWRP/Install the SU Beta via TWRP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133

7) Reboot phone now. Go through setup, Enable Dev/USB debug and usual options. SU APK should already be installed from the beta file. Test to ensure it is working.

8) Launched SU and made my usual changes. Tested other apps. Like Sunshine, and S-Off now. Phone rooted and other apps that need root work fine.

Also, might want to install Busybox, many ROM/Apps needs that, download that from the Play store.

I have root, and S-On.
But I still have problems to format the external SD card as the internal memory.
Has anyone of you the external SD card formatted as internal memory, So you can move Apps to the external SD card?

c:\Android>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) kernel: lk
(bootloader) product: htc_hiaeuhl
(bootloader) version: 1.0
(bootloader) version-main: 1.10.111.7
(bootloader) boot-mode: download
(bootloader) version-baseband: [email protected]
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.0.0.0000
(bootloader) mid: 2PQ910000
(bootloader) cid: T-MOB101

htc/hiaeuhl_00111/htc_hiaeuhl:6.0/MRA58K/635503.7:user/release-keys
Did you ever figure out how to format the external sd as internal storage?

Rooting should be easier now, since there's a new flashable zip of SuperSU (2.61) that automatically patches and roots the boot.img.

So you just have to 1) unlock, 2) flash TWRP, 3) Format Data, 4) reboot recovery and 5) flash the zip. Reboot and you're rooted!

P.S. I'm not providing a link to it - search on the site works perfectly fine ;)

Tried this method after re-flashing stock boot.img and, for me, the phone fails to detect any SD-cards at all.

EDIT: Just noticed that you've already reported it this in the SuperSU beta feedback thread.

Yes, I noted that issue in the SuperSU and TWRP threads. It's an easy fix, but in the meantime you'll need to go back to the boot.img you were using previously.
Yeah, I was reading through the Supersu beta thread when you posted your reply, probably should have checked there first. :)

For now, I've done just that and restored Jcase's altered boot.

No, I don't.

I read in another forum that other users have the same problem with rooted devices. They say after going back to stock there is no problem to format the ext. as int. Storage.

Will be getting my Sprint A9 here sometime today. Looking to root and reading through these threads to try and get a handle on things. I see its just these "steps1) unlock, 2) flash TWRP, 3) Format Data, 4) reboot recovery and 5) flash the zip" ? But the SuperSU zip breaks not finding the SD card? This correct? Just making sure if I need to hold off til that's fixed? Thanks

You can either wait until it's fixed and SuperSU 2.62 comes out, or use a different root method. The TWRP thread has an FAQ with all the info you need.

man,i finally figured out how to send fast boot commands had to use ./ infront of them.Anywho i have the att variant, unlocked it,fast boot flashed the att.zip image, went to my stock recovery factory reset,i let it boot the htc splash screen with the red words saying not to share this blah blah and everything booted fine,no root i never pushed su.Then i went back fast boot flashed twrp and the phone would only boot to twrp.Fast boot flashed att.img again fine. Then i saw the new supersu 2.61 flashed that now,no matter what i do i can't get passed the second splash screen where it says HTC ONE,i tried the ruu gave me an error,i tried it in adb ,on my external card with stock recovery and twrp.any help would be greatly appreciated Ill be searching and trying things.

Im Back up,i used the signed RUU renamed it accordingly ,put it on the root of my external card booted to download mode and it installed.Phone is still unlocked system says modified I'm guessing because its unlocked?Another great learning experience.
