Root Huawei Honor 6X and install TWRP custom recovery

It seems the only way forward! Can't go back to 4.1, and need root in the waiting period while LineageOS gains some maturity. Also, emui 5 is rather very nice tbh!

yea you cant downgrade atm but there will be rollback packages to downgrade once the official update is out. and yes emui5 is quite nice i like it

You can't flash via fastboot. You need to install the recovery and then use the ADB side load mode yes that works

Which SuperSU did you use for successful root on EMUI 5? I can't get it to root through ADB side load and latest SuperSU.

The very last line starts ro.confg (not ro.config)...

That's interesting. I did a quick Google search and that appears in a few build props from different Huawei devices... so it would seem that a bunch of Huawei phones have this error.

yes it will prevent you of getting OTA. I tried it. But you can use the following method to install nougat manually:

You need to got to the Huawei P9 LITE XDA forums. There is a recovery called revolution recovery there that you can download and flash. It works on our 6X , but be aware it can't mount data or internal SD, only the system partition and external SD are mounted correctly, but for flashing root , viper4android etc it is perfectly fine.

I tryed to install revolution recovery via adb, install seems ok but after reboot in recovery mode I have always huawei stock recovery...Now I'm on Nougat b342 beta...any fix?

Edit: Finally I install twrp...but some problem with Supersu...I tryed r255,v2.79r3 via Sideload but it show me impossible to mount data error....help me.

flash phhs r255, the data error in recovery is normal but doesnt matter

Thanks for reply...After phh r255 installation I have data error in recovery,I reboot but no Supersu app in my device...i rollback to MM I'm waiting for stable Nougat twrp.

You need to download the phhs superuser app from play store. I won't install automatically

Have you actually been successful at getting SU installed and granting access to apps? I have tried sideloading and straight install from external SD card then install Phh's app and can't get apps to grant access. I have the p9 lite recovery installed (the latest one) but it always randomly reboots when i'm in recovery after about 5 seconds. I get it to work sometimes but when it does work it won't properly mount internal SD.

I have the sources synced for our device but I have never built a recovery so I'm not sure whats involved to get it to boot with nougat. I keep an eye on the OpenKirin git repo but berlin isn't updated that often. I see a few commits related to nougat but not sure if they are what's needed for a nougat bootable recovery.

How did you mange to boot to twrp??
