You can backup whatsapp without root too.
Just do a local Whatsapp Backup and copy the "Whatsapp" folder to your PC and after reinstall of the rom back to your sdcard. Then our can restore from that backup when reinstalling whatsapp.

If you need more instructions just Google it.
i'm talking about the /data/data/whatsappsomething folder not the media folder in the internal memory

Hi folks!

I have G710EM, `V10p-EUR` firmware. I upgraded from WITHIN Magisk Manager, from Magisk v18 to Magisk v20.3. Terminal window opened and did some unpacking of the boot image, patching and reapplying. I am curious: is this the right way to update magisk, will I able to boot once I restart?
Any ideas, is it safe for me to restart? I don't have time to fiddle around with recovering from a bootloop...

Edit: took a plunge and restarted, all went well. Good job Magisk devs!

something strange happen, when i was without root i can see in statusbar the 4g,3g,edge icon, now i can't see it anymore, why? i thought the lg rom didn't had it, instead it have it but it just doesn't work with root, it seems... any idea?

EDIT: I managed to redownload the firmware, using the "recovery update" function in LG Bridge! :)

UPDATE: BINGO! All went flawlessly... extracted boot.img and patched into Magisk! Thank you very much @stel67 and greets from Italy. :)

Hello guys, I followed the @stel67 tutorial, All ok.. but when i try to flash will prompt the error:

fastboot flash boot_a magisk_patched.img
Sending 'boot_a' (24944 KB) FAILED (Write to device failed (Invalid argument))
fastboot: error: Command failed

I tried with firmware 20h and 20k,
I tried also to flash the twrp but this error always comes up.

What happened? these commands have always worked :confused::confused:

@LameMonster82 You should add an information to the OP to better firstly try to boot the specific magisk-patched_boot.img via "fastboot boot magisk-patched_boot.img" in order to avoid a bootloop from flashing a non compatible boot.img.

I have G710EM unlocked, software version V20i-EUR-XX.

I have downloaded patched boot.img from post #135 and 131.
I booted in fastboot. and I executed:
fastboot flash boot_a C:-...mypath to file ENTER.
Then
fastboot flash boot_b C:-...mypath to file ENTER.
Boths flashes OKAY.

After reboot there is no Magisk and no root.

Thx a lot!

Is your computer having an AMD CPU?
fastboot gave me errors on my AMD CPU. No issue with the Intel based laptop.
I read that many users with amd CPUs have similar issues.
