Hi, for those who want to root the latest Marshmallow build (MRA58N), I managed to do it using Chainfire new systemless root.

PREREQUISITE: unlocked bootloader, active usb debug, working adb drivers.

Thanks to user @Badgerkiller who used mra58k systemless to replace proper files in original mra58n for Fugu, otherwise the NP goes in bootloop due to Selinux policies (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63833541&postcount=2797).

Download fugu-mra58n-boot-systemless.zip from the post above and flash boot.img via fastboot.

Download also Chainfire SuperSU v2.52 from https://download.chainfire.eu/743/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip and put it in the NP storage.

Reboot in recovery, flash SuperSU-v2.52 and reboot.

This worked for me, hope it helps!

Edit: Here is the systemless SuperSU-v2.56 from Chainfire post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63197935&postcount=2

Have you rooted yours before? Im on MRA58N, first time trying to root this thing and my PC/Toolkit isn't allowing me to flash. Gives me an unauthorized error.

I'm going to test this, thanks.
I previously tryed both boot images (orginal and systemless) on the MRA58K without success ... but I was using SuperSU-v2.56 ... now I will try with v2.52 beta as suggested on your post ...
I'll report back later ...

For me is the first time rooting my NP (just bought it a week ago and after frist boot NP automatically updated itself to Android MRA58N).
In order to make the NP visible to my Windwos 10 pc in adb mode and download mode, I had to install PdaNet (after that, WinDroid and SkipSoft toolkit works well too).

Thanks man, It was a pain as forgot to unlock the bootloader as well. But PDAnet worked great. I got in TWRP and flashed SuperSU, Both the 2.52 and 2.56 version but I am still not rooted, It says the binary is not installed, am I still doing something wrong?

This is exactely what I did:
1) Booted up my brand new Nexus Player;
2) The NP updated itself to MRA58N;
4) Once rebooted in download mode, I flashed TWRP recovery (via SkipSoft ToolKit);
4) Tried to root via SkipSoft ToolKit, but I got bootloop;
5) Then I booted in download mode;
6) Flashed original MRA58N image (via SkipSoft ToolKit);
7) Booted up the system, enabled Developer options and USB debug;
8) Rebooted in download mode;
6) Reflashed TWRP again (via SkipSoft ToolKit);
7) Flashed the boot.img contained in the file "fugu-mra58n-boot-systemless.zip", provided from user @Badgerkiller;
8) Rebooted in recovery mode and flashed SuperSU-v.2.52.
