Hiya, So my tab is running quite nicely, but I just realized... samsung got a little smarter.. and implemented a feature not implemented in my old yp-gi1... the blocking of OTA updates on modified devices. How can I remove that modified flag, and does TriangleAway work on my device? and does anyone know if the SM-t210/t210R will receive a JB 4.3 or KitKat 4.4 update soon?

The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is not supported by TriangleAway.

I personally don't think it will get JB 4.3 or 4.4, it even has not get 4.2.2 yet, like old Tab 2...

Hi,

If I understand properly.. applying this pre-rooted firmware on my SM-T210 will make me lose warranty. But if I later update to an original stock firmware, then I would lose root and re-gain warranty from Samsung ? Am I correct ?

And in such case (ie with prerooted firmware), we can't have anymore OTA updates ?

Last question (for now..) : is it possible to update to prerooted firmware to gain root, then apply rootkeeper to save root, then update to original stock firmware to reestablish warranty and then ask rootkeeper to re-root the tablet ?

Reading the 37 pages of this thread, I'm starting wondering if chosing this tablet was a good choice compared to some chinese tablets wat same price (but with no expectation from warranty ..)..

Hi,

For those wo look for rooting without losing warranty, here's a method from Ironman38102 which worked perfectly for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47020905&postcount=11&nocache=1&z=6174581062514335

Remember to enable usb debugging before running cydia impactor, that's all ! and then tablet is rooted and still shows official status.

Too sad, I did not know this before :(
But I can tell that an official OTA update set my flash counter to zero again. Maybe one can flash an old version, do the OTA update and then be under warranty again ;)

Lol I when I was getting my tab I was researching about how this flash counter nonsense works and found out that adb and recovery dont raise the flash counter so found this tool that uses adb and roots using master bugs in Android. When I used it the flash counter did not go up. Anyways glad I could help

hey i just did this but now my screen is all flickery, like everythint works but its like low resolution etc, now all my roms i try are like that....i just bought this and i know its not hardware because before i rooted it was clear hd screen etc now its just wow...

you know this is getting anoying so i finally fixed it and got it back to stock, but i bought a 8gb one so my gaming is limited, with 32gb, im gonna try it again but this time i think i know where i went wrong, i DL the t210 one instead of the t210r, and used that one first t210 into a t210r which gave me the gittery flickers, so ima test it out again and try t210r first,

I get this flickering issue. How did you fix it? Restoring the original rom in the second post?

I did the same and used the t210 ROM in a t210r. Did you try flashing the t210r after restoring the device?

Thanks!

EDIT: restored original firmware via Keis and flickering is gone. Haven't tried the t210r rooted rom yet. Will update here when if I try it.

I fixed by using Samsung Kies software (download it from Samsung web site).

Then you put the tab into download mode and in Kies you go to Tools->Restore original firmware (or something similar).

That puts the original firmware back and you obviously lose the root.

I don't know the flicker is happening and haven't tried yet another way to root it as the tablet is not mine and the owner wanted to play with it a bit before (he hadn't even seen the tablet since I bought it for him hehehe).

Hi but do we just run everything we have downloaded onto tab and root from that way.....or am I missing something ???

Odin is a pc program, you run it from the computer (windows, for Linux or Mac you'll need to use a program called heimdall by glass echidna...). But once you download it to the computer, just run it from the download folder. You may also need to install the correct drivers on your computer, but that's something I learned from my Epic (galaxy s1) days which might not apply anymore

While it is uploading here is the info. We have been working on making a custom recovery. No luck. Close but not there yet. So I decided to make a pre-rooted firmware you can flash through Odin. Works perfectly. The firmware I used was for the UK version. Funny enough stock the kernel is unsecure. Anyways it is the whole firmware so it is about 1.1-1.2 gigs. Uploading to me Dev-host.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

By using the rom you agree with the above terms!

    Instructions:
    • Download firmware
    • Download Odin - Link here
    • Boot into download. (either hold power and volume down or do adb reboot download)
    • Click on PDA and then find prerooted.tar.md5
    • MAKE SURE RE-PARTITION IS NOT CHECKED!!! You will have an instant brick! You have been warned.
    • Click start and wait.
    • once done it will reboot into (stock) recovery and finish installing.
    • Once done and booted just open SuperSU and update the binary. Not by CWM but the other.
    • Done. Enjoy!

No, something is missing. It was successful but won't boot into recovery. I am going to talk to some developer buddies and see what they say.

    Worked like a Champ

For those of you experiencing the same issues I found with Downloads, esp. the lame Upload.net here are the links for all the software you need:

Latest Samsung Drivers for Windows (I'm using Win7 x64 and they work fine):
    https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/9

    Latest ADB and Fastboot:
    http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#download

A solid link to Odin 3.7z
    https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/8

    Enjoy All!!!!

Here is a great guide to using Odin if you are new to Samsung as I am:

    And of course

    Rooted firmware - http://d-h.st/leL

Which works exceedingly well. Thanks to Jamison, great work!
