So, I can see you have been following these forums then...
No way to root or unlock bootloader as of yet,,,
Device to new, but for those who get out sooner and it's able to root / unlock.. Please post quick

I can only imagine how great this phone will be with all the BS stock removed.

Most of the stock stuff can be removed already. It tends to download all the "stock" apps from the play store. ASUS did that very right....

wow so you're that guy

...

Also what is the difference between the deluxe and the standard model that this method wouldnt work Root
There is a bootloader unlock tool for specific models of the Zenfone 3.
Personally I'm not gonna be the guinea pig to try and use these bootloader unlock tools on my shiny new, EXPENSIVE, toy...
The 6gb 256gb version has the Snapdragon 821 CPU. Not sure if this would work, do nothing or brick my device.
As for the Snapdragon 820, this may indeed work but again there is risk... Would prefer to have a dev actually make a bootloader unlock for this specific model.

I got mine from him as well, but lost all contact since I placed my order.
How fast did he ship it to you?

---------- Post added at 03:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:21 AM ----------

Can anyone check via fastboot or adb shell whether the following partition:"ftmboot" is visible?
An exploit has recently been discovered to leverage a bootloader vulnerability & boot with no selinux & adbd in root mode.
If present & indeed exploitable, this should allow us to at least have temp root.

It took almost like a month. I had to pressure the guy to get ship.

Preorder on Asus store.

From where? Can you give me the website.
I preordered on Asus store and after tax and overnight shipping, it was 860. It is due to be delivered on the 19th. Good thing about that is it comes with a US warranty. Only a fool would buy international and forgoe the warranty just to get it a couple weeks earlier

It is currently sold out right now though. I'm glad I preordered right away.

Has anyone seen or try this?

/how-to-root-asus-zenfone-3-deluxe-zs570kl/

From kidapso.com

Does it work and how does this differ for the Deluxe 3 with SD-821?

LOL... There's at least 3 or 4 methods to root the Zenfone 3 deluxe that come up when you search...
These are untested methods by "experts" that DON'T HAVE IT... It's generic stuff that may work on older devices or work on the Zenfone 3 but I wouldn't try on my device (hell, one even says you must have your bootloader unlocked to do this but doesn't say how then refers you back to XDA to read upon how to root your device). The site which you posted actually states "NB: Even though the picture tutorial is not for Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL, but the root process of Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL using AutoRoot Tools is also same."...

If you wish to try them out, go a ahead and get back to us how it turns out... Betting it won't work (best outcome) or you'll end up with a brick (extremely likely)

Yeah it's better to wait this out, and enjoy the phone you have for now until then. The only thing i can see done is accessing the fastboot mode, but there is nothing else then that. You can disable the apps to the point it;s uninstalled and it won't go on your storage, that one good thing without needed the root for. Just wish i could change other things.

You can always try dirty cow if you're desperate for root.
The android PoC is publicly available, although I don't know if changes persist after a reboot (dm-verity).

Yes I have seen the site but try clicking on the download link. It sends you to a website that tells you to "complete 1 of 2 offers" for the download to begin.

Serious spam/malware alert here. I wouldn't run this app with a virtual machine let alone let it loose on my brand new Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

If you actually manage to download this, then a) you don't have any malware protection on your PC (your adblocker should give you all sorts of warnings before allowing you to the "offer" page) and b) you are almost 100% guaranteed to end up with malware on your PC or phone, even if it does manage to root it which it won't because there is no unlocked bootloader yet.

After all that, you will end up with no root on your phone, malware or ransomeware on your PC (and/or your phone) and all sorts of spam in your e-mail inbox.

But of course i'm happy to be proven wrong with screenshots of the phone running a root only app. (nobody should try this though, except maybe if you are going to throw your PC and your zenfone 3 deluxe into an incinerator after you are done whilst using a temporary e-mail address to "sign up" for the "offer")
