I have the new phone and have not even inserted my SIM.. I use Foxfi for tethering as I do not want to pay an extra 30 to the phone company... Bought the same phone for the wife and she loves it as is... pics/vids are amazing, speed, response, etc (she went from S5 to Zen3). I'll wait it out and keep checking this thread and online... hopefully sooner rather than later

The phone just came out, sadly we need to have patience here until then, honestly this phone doesn't need the root for now with a few tips of getting rid of stuff, etc, though it's up to ASUS to release it, i would love to see it, but we can't do much until then. Though yeah i'm surpised v20 did make it there first...

The phone is really good as is, but not all people have received their phones yet. Asus needs to get their production ramping up and offer a tool to unlock the bootloader or this forum will be even deader than it already is. I must say this phone does a lot of things right and the blue light feature is the best I've seen on any device I've owned. Of course cf lumen if you have root handles blue light much better, but there's no root yet.

The phone needs root and and unlocked bootloader because many people want xposed on their phone. There's no excuse in not offering the tool like most other companies do. This is an expensive phone and if Asus doesn't offer the tool I for one will never buy from them again. As the days go on I get angrier and more likely to return it.

I have and these are the two responses I received.

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is Carter X. and I understand that you are having issue with the unlock tool.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and I’ll be more than happy to help you in getting this resolved.

Currently we haven't received related information that there would be the unlock utility released for this ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

But we will transfer customers' wishes to the related department for further development.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us again for assistance.

AND

Unfortunately currently we could just transfer the customers' wishes to the Product department for further development.

But I thought the unlock tools for the Zenfone 3 models might be released on our website in the few months, please pay attention to our website for update.

Thanks for your understanding and we are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience.

**Not exactly what I was looking for, but maybe it will be released. Where on their website would we even look for the bootloader unlock tool? The regular Zenfone 3 has one right? Is that one on their website?**

If you go to the download section for the phone (in support I believe), you will so a couple drop downs for firmware, software, etc. There, when the unlock is released, it will be labeled under utilities. This is where you can find the ZenFone 3 bootloader unlock.

i did look on Asus website for the zenfone 3, all i see is the firmware, drivers, manauls and source code, but nothing mentions of anykind of bootloader, do you have a link where it's showing or something.

looking through the zenphone 3 ultra, they have a link related to this topic, if you want to take a look --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3-ultra/how-to/deluxe-unlock-bootloader-tool-ultra-t3487744

https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/28/CHukp94xOkwRMIP4/32/

That's the link for the ZenFone 3 official boot oader unlock. Its under utilities.

Just so you know, the Deluxe version does not have a bootloader unlock yet on the asus site.

I tried to install the APK on my pho.e and try it out, but its signed to only work on the 552 sadly. Failed to even start installing on my phone.
You should be thankful, otherwise you would've had a brick.
The regular Z3 has a SD625 SoC, whereas ours has a SD820, so probably differences in bootloaders as well.

Yeah i recommend not to do anything at this point until we really get the info from ASUS it's self, don't want to brick your phone or do something worse.

/821
the difference is just in clock speed, but I bet it changes enough for a possibility of a brick

hi
i have a zenfone 3 deluxe from china.
the bootloader is blocked!
if you try to go in recovery mode the message is NO COMMAND
I pushed up and down volume and then pressed power a few times... This jumped me to the stock recovery... This was from 1st pushing volume down then power to get to the Android lying on it's back with no command above it...

I have a ZS570KL, had a bit of a look tonight:

Enabled developer options, and then debugging.
Connected to ADB, rebooted to bootloader/fastboot
Majority of fastboot commands re: unlocking dont seem to be enabled.

If I even try to load recovery from fastboot i get:
"cannot load 'recovery' Permission denied"

Downloaded the firmware for my device from the asus site.
extracted the boot.img
Used 'abootimg' in linix, to edit the default.prop in the ramdisk to set ro.secure=0 and rebuilt it. (trying to enable root)
Tired to boot from it via fastboot but no luck.

I tried to do the same again with android image kitchen, but no luck.

My very limited research is used up.
Pros Or ASUS offical unlock where are you? we need help!
