Root on AT&T GS9+?

I was wondering if it was possible to root my AT&T device.
Should I root it? Would it be safe?
I currently have a plan with AT&T, so is there a way to root my phone, without touching Knox or the bootloader? Thanks!
Device - Samsung Galaxy S9+
Model - SM-G965U
