I'll look into it. Thank you! Particularly with this phone, what would you say are the top reasons to root?

BL can't be unlocked. Verizon/moto crippled this phone. :( Moto must be forced to make this phone BL unlockable.:mad::mad:

fk verizon, but it's actually moto that doesn't allow it, or both. moto must be boycotted. someone needs to start a petition.

Anyone knows why I can't unlock the bootloader for the Moto e4, it's a MetroPCS Variant and i went ahead to the Motorola's bootloader site to unlock, typed in everything correctly but says can't be unlocked, I really want to root this phone.

Make sure you scroll down past the box to enter the unlock code and check the box agreeing to the stipulations of unlocking your device. If you don't check it, it will tell you your device can't be unlocked. If you did do this, check the unlock code again and make sure there are no spaces or other characters where there shouldn't be.

I had this same issue with a Verizon Moto phone in the past. After calling Verizon customer service it appears that they had a contract with Moto to offer cheap phones in exchange for locked bootloaders. You may want to check with the carrier. It might be a similar situation.

Metro PCS phones should be unlockable. I've seen plenty of people with unlockable models of numerous devices claiming they can't unlock and it has been because they missed that one little box to check.

If it's not a Verizon phone, you didn't put the code in right some how. Check it again for spaces or other charachters that shouldn't be there.
Edit: don't try to copy and paste the whole string at once, do one line at a time and make sure not to add any spaces.

Is there a place that the results are conglomerated for people? i.e. what provider and whether or not bootloader is unlockable?
It seems certain that Verizon is not.
I can say that on my E4, purchased via US cellular, I did manage to unlock using the process with Motorola.

You are using the wrong forum, this is only for the Moto E4.
