Gonna flash the latest nightly but a question--

Am on an iMac, you said in OP Mac is the easiest, but in video you mentioned it was for Windows and Mac was a little different, unless I misunderstood.

Can I just run Casual as you did in video, will have to delete install_recovery after I guess. Since I need root to do that, unless exploit does it--didn't see anyone mention that

Will deal with Loki stuff when I get to that point as I am use to and like the twrp interface, prefer it as my recovery. nothing against cwm--just preference

Thanks Again

Well, disregard already ran Casual now backing up apps with TiBu then a Nandroid, Thanks Adam--:)

Very slow TiBu backup compared to mey One S--does TWRP still need tweaking--?

Do I still need to uninstall install_recovery.sh

I can't believe how quick and easy this was.
I had not yet visited these forums (coming from S3), spent maybe 10min doing research.

Home from store with S4: 5PM
Download Casual, setup phone, boom done: 5:15PM

Currently creating a backup, then wiping and installing Mint Jelly.

This rocks!

Hmm, just had a strange issue, not sure if ROM or something deeper.

Had just setup Mint, configuring things my way and everything was great. Left phone and came back to a black screen that just said Samsung with an opened lock below it.

Had to force restart but things seem stable now.

Any thoughts? Quite confused...

Ok, so things randomly got worse... Much worse.

Here's the screen I was referring to. http://goo.gl/q5HDC

Things seemed to be working great and now I can't even boot into my ROM.
Can still boot TWRP and Download, tried wiping all datas and reinstalling with no luck.

Literally phone was fine at dinner, came home plugged in, restarted and black screen. Earlier I had seen the black before but a reboot had resolved, now immediately on boot I see it.

Help? Downloading an odin stock to see if that helps, any other input by chance?

Sorry mint rom forum?
Whatever ROM you're running ask there. If you you're running stock, go back to stock. Then back here.

If you have problems running CASUAL tonight, disconnect from the Internet and run it again
I'm revising the way CASUAL parses it's metadata. This involves taking the CASUAL Update System and revising it. You may experience problems when working with CASUAL until you update to the latest CASUAL. I'm going to release another version tomorrow.

This isn't a miscellaneous issue thread. That has nothing to do with this topic.

Tried but got Failed

http://pastebin.com/raF28ktN

That is the pastebin for the log..

Seems to be complaining about adb server is out of date.. Which is wierd since I updated my SDK.. But the logs also shows that it is using it's own ADB so I am at a lose for what is wrong. Good news is didn't brick my phone or really change anything.. Just didn't do anything really.

Any help would be great..

Thanks

UPDATE: I was able to run this off my laptop with no issues. So clearly it is something with how I installed the SDK on my main machine causing this issue. Don't know what that is..

It sounds like you've got something attempting to run it's own ADB. stop trying to run ADB.

Adam,

worked great from winxp

used casual revision 630
winXP sp3
java Version 7 Update 21
samsung usb driver v1.5.14.0

log if you want to check anything out
http://pastebin.com/hvaC3c5g

couple of notes:
1. when getting started - it had to do the fingerprint when i first connected and started; then wanted me to disconnect and reconnect before i could start the script. after i did that - it ran great
2. i was following the guide from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314494
step 3 said to do an EFS backup in TWRP; since it booted into TWRP after finishing Casual; i did it. before rebooting; it said that root was broken and do i want to fix. i searched and didnt see anyone here having that problem; so i chose no. i rebooted and root works - so i dont know what the TWRP root not done was all about; thought i would mention it...

thanks again for making rooting the s4 so easy.

is there a way to update this to work with the Galaxy S4 Active? It runs and says it is not for you device (of course)
Maaannnn, I was excited about the Actice, and the firmwares are diffetent. So, XDA support would be more likely slower and smaller like the old Note. I guess I'll go for the regular S4.

I setup my ATT Galaxy S4 for this method.1) Installed kies 2)USB debug 3) phone connected so I pressed do it. It went through the process up until reboot ok. Pressed reboot OK button. It went into stock recovery with the recovery error logo. I chose reboot system and the phone started up fine. Tried to load SuperSU but it didn't run. Phone isn't rooted either.

In trying to figure out what was wrong, I forgot to do the pastebin method. The last thing I remember on the CASUAL screen was supersu not found or something similar. You can consider me new to this stuff. Any input is appreciated. Sorry if its some obvious error on my part.

Info on system: Java is up to date on laptop. Running Windows 7 OS.

galaxy s4 active at&t

Adam, thank you for your n00b easy software! I want to ask if this will work for the new s4 active? My guess is it should since basically it has everything the s4 does except a bigger body casing, and a smaller pixel camera? Please let me know if this is true so I can start my root/unlock bootloader process.
