Hi, thanks, I have one more question, sir. Should I download only the "ONLY fotakernel_... and kernel_.." for my xxxx.92 version or I should download and flash the whole thing?
Because in the written guide it is shown to download all, but in the YouTube clips people have used only the kernel?
Thanks again.
only kernel is enough.

So I have a brand new SGP311 running 4.1.2 with a build number of 10.1.c.0.370. The system wants to update me to 10.4.1.b.0109.

Since I'm new to this tab and it's not rooted yet, should I try rooting now with my current build or take the update and THEN root? Also, for this tab, is the stock build going to be faster and snappier than roms or does the performance stay good in loading one of the roms here? I've come up from a sony tablet s to a sony xperia s to this xperia z. My previous sony tabs were rooted but not running any roms.

Sounds very familiar to how I got to Z series....The updates will keep coming until the latest 1 as shown in this thread. (well, it did for me!!!) Updated a couple of times then followed the instructions ....just had a lot of faffing around as I didn't save the ftf files each time because one of them comes in handy here...anyways everything's laid out @ the beginning of thread.
Never use custom ROMs, can't comment!

So I can allow it to take all the OTAs available and then start rooting it? I know some tabs have only certain builds that are rootable and sometimes you have to step down to them.

It may have been my phone XZR which had all the updates come to think of it as it was new, you'll have to use the dedicated thread to ask for questions relating to your version of firmware!!

Lost Root after installing CM12 Nightly.....

Hi All,

Apologies in advance if an answer has been posted to this problem:

I have rooted and unlocked the boot loader of my SGP321 (WiFi/LTE).

But everytime I install CM12 (flash zip via TWRP), I lose Root......and as far as I can see, there's no way back from that, bar a complete re-install of stock (KK444)

Really frustrated as have wanted to flash CM and get rid of the Sonly bloatware (example: of 2gb internal memory, the stock firmware leaves only c.500mb free....thats just plain ridiculous. Compared to CM12 which leaves 1.7 GIGS free.

Any and all help appreciated

That seems a bit odd in my opinion.
Ain't Cyanogen Mod rooted by default?
Anyways. The problem isn't with the stock rooting, it's with CM12. I think you have better chance of getting help on their forums.
However. It might be as easy as just flash some CM12 root zip or perhaps just install SuperSU from play.
