Wireless tethering not working

Thank you regaw_leinad! worked perfectly! donation sent!

I cannot get wireless tethering to work yet on the EVO 4G LTE. The phone is rooted and I have verified through the super su and typing su on the terminal application.
I have installed wifi tether v3.1 beta 14 and used the suggestions in other threads including MSS Clamping, Routing Fix, and I am using the Generic ICS profile. I have used various combinations of these also including turning off the wifi driver reload and changing the wifi channel.

The results are the same for all of them--blue screen crash on both laptops. When connected, I can ping and trace route, but through a browser (I tried both chrome and explorer) I seem to get DNS trouble and a crash to a blue screen.

I had no problem with an earlier version of the application on my HTC Hero using adhoc connections.

Would another version of this application work or is there another application in the market that would work?

Thanks!

How far did it get? Is bootloader unlocked even?

@cherrywade
Unsupported device in wallet basically just means you're rooted, you've altered your device. If you hadn't even set it up before rooting, I'm sure you're in the clear. Wallet is having issues with Evo LTE for now, though. Some get it working by changing their device ID to a Samsung device in build.prop. I, personally, would rather just wait. I dont wanna hurt my evos feelings by stamping Samsung on it.

If you never sign in to your google wallet, does it still need to be reset?

Also, I tried this method with my wife's phone, and it went all the way through, completed, unlike my phone.

However, I have Recovery, but not SuperUser app. Is this normal? Do I have to download it from the Play Store?

Thanks again.

I just used zedo's root again, without problems. That may be the way to go for everyone, then just go to HTC Dev to unlock, and then flash Recovery of choice.

I'm not computer illiterate, and I've done different root methods before with my OG Evo, but this one has a few bugs for some people. Especially when it goes completely through the process, and not everything is there. Not everyone's phone is the same again, I guess.

Not sure what went wrong, but she's good to go now.

Thanks to you and the OP for this method.

You can use this again, or you can just unlock through HTCdev.com manually, they are the same thing, this just does it for you and quick.

Not sure where to ask...maybe you can help out. Fully unlocked, rooted, etc. but notice that unlike all previous phones when you plug phone in via usb you get the charge and other options but not disk drive. Is that unique to this phone or is something dorked in my setup preventing it showing disk drive?

regaw_leinad you and the people that made this happen are the best! Being the successor to the OG Evo the LTEvo (Evo 4G LTE) is living up to Evo name! You can flash rom on this bad boy while have S-On, that's crazy!

It's there. It's the third option. The two big ones and the first little one is disk drive

Mine has it. The 2 big options at top are Charge only and HTC sync...then directly under them first option is Disk Drive
