i rooted using this method right when the phone came out im curious is there any benifit to go back and do the lazy panda root for s-off. If so do i need to return the phone to stock before the lazy panda any info would be appreciated.
You should have used the LazyPanda method vs this one. Lazy Panda gives you s-off and doesn't void your warranty with HTC like this method. S-off is the way to go....

I'm wanting some info on this too. Can I just run the panda method to get s-off at this point, or do I need to do something special?

Apparently you missed the part where he says he did it right when the phone came out

Just an FYI, I've done all three of these, the method listed in OP, LazyPanda and the Bootloader Customizer ( in that order ) without any problems. Will be doing the updated ROM shortly.

These guys are great!

So I had to get a new phone today due to a faulty bluetooth radio. They applied the OTA update before I had the chance to say no at the BestBuy mobile. Now when I go through the root process it makes it to the 2nd reboot towards the end and I keep getting "Error Remounting Filesystem as RW". Am I screwed here? I'm unlocked but s-on.
I am picking up a replacement phone today also and also need to know if this method will work with the new OTA applied.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this will not work on the new OTA. I will be updating this with the new TWRP recovery 2.2.0 though, for those of you who have build 1.13.651.1, as well as finding a root method for this OTA.

As stated in the OP this is successful in rooting builds up to 1.13.651.1
thanks I sure hope you can find new root method. your work has been awesome so far. i was s off and rooted and did the firmware upgrade haux made and then I couldnt get any network connection so I used your unroot method brought me back to factory and 3g came back. stupid me updated now I used this method and got htc unlocked but wont root obviously.

Well since you're unlocked, and I assume you have the TWRP recovery, you can just flash Chainfire's SuperSU zip from recovery and it will put SuperSU and the su binary on your phone, then giving you root. And by explaining that to you, I now know how to update the rooter ;) Soo.... thank you

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, or its just that my phone has 1.22.651. It did unlock it, but nothing else, and the program froze after it was supposed to wait for the final reboot. Superuser wasn't installed, and neither was TWRP recovery. Also, I have no idea on how to get into recovery on this phone.

I have to mention, this is the first thing I did, since there's no instructions to tell you what to do first.

--EDIT--
Managed to do the right key combo this time to get into recovery. It surprised me. This time I held down volume down and momentarily pressed the power button, and TWRP is installed.

Well it does say in the OP that it's successful on builds up to 1.13.651.1. You version is higher than that. I will be updating this to fully support newer builds soon, BUT since you already have a recovery, just search XDA for SuperSU, and flash the zip in Chainfire's post in recovery to give root.

everything goes through but when it tries to install root apps it says cant get permssion to rw and wont install apps any suggestions
Mine stopped in the same place. I ran it before lazypanda came out. What I did from that point was download supersu from the market. When I told it to install the binary it was already there. Twrp was already there as well. All that was left to do was install busy box.
