Can someone help me if I am unable to locate the Regaw_Mod rooter.zip to flash. I am stuck on that part.
I have been there here are the steps click start then paste that path " %temp%\RegawMOD\Evo Rooter " . It will open the directory fine the regawmod rooter is located and copy the zip file then mount your phone from the twrp progarm once your files open drag and drop the regaw into your phone's sd card. unmount click install and search for the zip it should be there. You might also check the ext-sd to locate the zip file, once you locate the regawrooter click and let her rip.

Hope it works

I did this whole process, it installed TWRP, SU, but I'm still S-ON. How do I get S-OFF?
You need to run lazy panda to achieve s-off and it is only possible if u are on the original hboot. 1.13. If you took the OTA update you can't run lazy panda

Ok regaw finally got it to work. I downloaded the mirror then i followed directions until i couln't find the regawmod, so i ran the temp/regawmod as you said found the zip and placed on my phone after i mounted the sd card. I then had to search high and low, internal first but finally located on sd-ext ziped the file. Now bootloaders had TAMPERED in brown and Unclocked for bootloader. btw i do have upersus and have been flashing like crazy. Thanks for the hard work. I was lost a couple a days ago, but after clearing my mind and refocusing i was able to root this thing. BTW am i suppose to be seeing the Tampered wording when in recovery?
Yes your phone is tampered now. Everythings as it should be

Can someone please post the previous zip b4 this borked version, I got all delete happy when I saw this new 1 :(
There is no borked version AFAIK. I doubt regaw would have a borked link in his thread

Question what is the difference between the mirror and regular download?
No difference, same end result

Thats what it was!! The fast boot was enabled. Disabled it, and it boots right into hboot. Thanks!!

Glad ya got it. I've been reading the last 4 pages to see if anyone answered you before I chimed in. Lol

I had to buy a new Evo last night. Still had the rooter on PC from last Evo. First Evo was one click and done. This time, ran into a few hiccups. Had to manually reboot at one point, and had to rerun once or twice. But went fine. Oh, and getting the token failed a few times (HTCs fault). Goes to show how great this is written, dan accounts for many variables.

Was lucky enough to get a 1.13 Evo. Actually, it tried to push and update as soon as powered on, but stopped cuz batt was only 9% (sigh of relief, thank god). And my cam actually takes good pics on this one.

Anyhow, great work dan. Thanks for all you share.

Just like gmarkiek I too cannot locate the Regaw_Mod rooter.zip to flash. The TWRP folder is at the bottom of the list. I tried the top file "(Up A level)" and it took me to another list of files including "boot", "cache" "data" and "root" (located near the bottom of the list) but no Regaw_Mod. I tried clicking on "use external Card" and it showed the original list with the TWRP at the bottom but no Regaw_Mod. I had to remove HTC Sync just to get this far where previous attemps stopped after the 2nd reboot. Any ideas?

It's called RegawMOD_Rooter.zip just to clarify, I'm seeing a whole bunch of different versions.

Also, finding it in %TEMP% on your computer is a hack and workaround until I fix this bug that makes it not push to the device. I'll be updating it soon, if you don't know what's going on here, just wait until I come back out with an update, don't dig around flashing something that may not be the right thing.

I tried this for a solid 60 seconds. Right after pressing both, the 3 buttons on the bottom blink for about 5 secs and then quit... nothing happens, until I let go of all buttons... then it boots up normally again.

I tried this again and let go of the power button after about 10 secs, and even with the vol down button pressed, it still immediately boots up normally.

no one else experiencing this issue?? how do I fix?! thanks everyone
If you want a foolproof way of getting to the bootloader from the phone, there is a method I use that I haven't seen mentioned before. It is faster too than other methods I have tried.

1) Press and hold the power button ONLY. This will eventually pop up the message that your phone is going to shut down in 3, 2, 1... (this is actually a simulated battery pull)
2) Once the screen goes black, let go of power
3) Press power and volume down, and in about 2-3 seconds the bootloader will appear.

---------- Post added at 05:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:04 AM ----------

1) I am s-off and was rooted and running MeanROM and on the 1.22.651.1 build and had flashed latest radio from twrp.
2) went back to complete stock by using the 1.22.651.3 RUU exe, so now i'm s-off and 'locked'
3) can I use this tool to gain root again, since this uses htcdev to unlock bootloader, and i'm already s-off
Since you are S-OFF, what you probably want to do is...

1) Flash LazyPanda hboot 1.12.2222 from the bootloader
2) Flash TWRP 2.2.1 from the bootloader
3) Flash SuperSU 0.94 from recovery

I did exactly what you did, and this is how I got back to root from the RUU. If you want to do this I can give you the exact links.

P.S. I also hand executed the commands from zedomax's batch file in adb shell to push and install busybox to the the phone, but I am planning to create a flashable zip with an updater-script to do that as well, since everyone seems to leave that step out and no one has created an auitomated method yet that I have found.

No problem, glad you got it. This method does not provide S-OFF...you'll need to use Lazy Panda for that. You're still unlocked though so you should be able to flash ROMs just fine.

Gotcha. I'm learning here... with my orig EVO, I thought unlocked was the same thing as s-off (maybe it wasnt)... with this EVO LTE, its 2 different things. With it now unlocked, and I can now flash roms, what is the advantage of going the extra step to get it to s-off?

Another question, but doesnt pertain to this thread, do you still use A2SD to save all apps to the sd so they are still there when you flash new roms? Or is there a different method to this new phone?

Yeah, it's a little different with the LTE, mainly because it's still relatively early I think. With unrevoked on the OG you got unlocked, rooted and S-OFF in one automated process so there wasn't much of a distinction between them for a lot of people (including myself). I think we will see that with the LTE as well, just takes time for the OTAs to slow down and the devs to crack them. Right now, depending on which hboot version you have and what you want to do, you may not really need S-OFF...if you're on 1.15 then you can basically only flash recovery, ROMs and some kernels (but it requires flashing an entire boot image) with S-ON. 1.12 will let you flash everything but firmware with S-ON. But if you just want to flash ROMs, either version with S-ON should work.

I've never used A2SD before so I'm not sure exactly what the capabilities are. I usually just use Titanium Backup for my apps and then restore on the new ROM.

Except you can't flash a kernel/boot.img in recovery if S-ON 1.15 HBOOT. Well if u use dumlock its suppose to I believe. To change kernels S-ON 1.15 HBOOT it has to be done in fastboot as a whole boot.img.

Everything else works fine expect for the last step where it says "In TWRP, Find and Install "RegawMOD_Rotter.zip". There is no Rooter.zip.

However, I am able to make a back up on my current (stock) Rom successfully.
But Titanium still doesn't notice my device as being rooted.

What gives?

That zip (RegawMOD_Rooter.zip) is what gives you root.

You know once you're in twrp if you've already downloaded a rom whether it's a stock deodexed or whatever rom u like you can simply flash it n you will have rooted it

Can anyone else verify that this is true? Not saying that it's not but I just never heard of this being possible.

I unlocked it manually through HTC Dev site and flashed CleanROM on Thursday. Also did it after the last ota since su didn't work through the tools. I did it exactly like this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830098 I also did it over tethering from full stock and took about 10-15 min and that's with 33kbps internet speed.

I just ran though this process and I'm seeing the same thing. I get to the TWRP recovery then click Install and there is no .zip file there for the root process. Not sure what's broken here, but the root zip file is not getting pushed to my phone (internal memory or SD card). Please advise.

I have rebooted back into the OS and the Super User app is not installed. I have s-off but have had s-off for a while (since pre OTA update via lazy panda). Gave up root back then to try to recover NFC/Google Wallet by running RUU. Got back to stock but still had s-off! Took the OTA and gave up root hopring OTA would fix multitasking issue, but it didn't. Now, here I am. Ran the exe for this root methos and all looked well until I got to TWRP and now have no zip to flash. Is there a way to get this zip manually? I can just mount the SD card and transfer the file and flash it.
