This worked perfect for me. It's a good one-click method. I use this method to root, and I use Safestrap (found here in XDA) for my recovery.

Thanks for the easy one-click rooting program! Greatly appreciate it.

Quick, easy root method thanks. I'm new to motorola so is there a recovery like clockworkmod that can be flashed on the razr/razr maxx?

Does anyone have the download filed? I can't seem to connect to the link at downloadandroidrom.com. The site seems to be down.

Thanks,
TJ

Anyone have any idea on the issue with a mac hanging after waiting for the device? It seems that adb isn't showing my devices, and I'm not sure why... I've got debugging on, the phone is in charge only mode, I can't seem to find any reasons that it is not showing up but the issue seems to be the same as a few other mac users have had in this thread.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Edit: I have solved my issue and rooted successfully. The problem was that i had an easy tether next installed that stopped proper interaction of dab with devices. after removing it, the process worked correctly.

I successfully used this, thank you!
Now, what can I use to un-root and return to stock?
Thanks again!

Just got phone and this was easy to do. Thanks!

Also wondering how to unroot to prepare for ota ics.

This is a much better phone than all the HTC and Samsung i've used and hacked previously. Maxx battery is insane.

Thanks for posting this, works beautifully on my new Razr.

Running Android 2.3.6 (Rogers_XT910_SignedLATAM_167-SLC-M33.1_P042_A014_CFC_1FF_fastboot, shows up as 651.167.3331.XT910.Rogers.en.CA under System version).

Here's root + recovery for Win Mac and Linux on Gingerbread Android 2.3.6 (should work on all Gingerbread)

Sorry YouTube terminated my account, you can still see step-by-step photos here on my site.

    Download for Windows:
    http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/DroidRazr/rooting/motofail_windows.zip

Download Mac/Linux: (DO ./run.sh in terminal)
    http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/DroidRazr/rooting/motofail_linux_osx.zip

    Drivers for Windows:

    =========BELOW IS OLD==================================
I simply modified the original here and re-wrote it for Linux and Mac.

    Video tutorial:

No drivers needed for Mac and Linux!

    Download files here:
    http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/DroidRazr/rooting/DroidRazrRootMacLinux.zip

Open up a terminal in your computer and use cd command to browse to the DroidRazrRootMacLinux directory:

    cd Downloads/DroidRazrRootMacLinux

    For Linux, type:

    sh runmelinux.sh

    or

    sudo sh runmelinux.sh

    For Mac, type:

    sh runmemac.sh

    That's it!

Hi...sorry for the noob-ish question, but when I type this command into my Mac terminal, I get the following error message:

-bash: cd: Downloads/DroidRazrRootMacLinux: No such file or directory

Now, the downloaded file is DEFINITELY in my Downloads folder, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I was able to follow directions pretty well when I rooted my Thunderbolt using the terminal and some adb commands. Do you have any thoughts you might want to share? I appreciate your help.

Never mind. I don't mind admitting I'm an idiot. I went ahead and unzipped the downloaded file and all is right with the world. I'm the proud owner of a rooted Razr. Thanks for your work on this, and thanks for sharing.

You can unroot just by going to the SuperSU app and then go to the settings, and choose “Full unroot”. Its very easy and the whole process of rooting and unrooting takes a maximum of 10 minutes.:victory:
