I still haven't updated and continue to get the pop up reminder but its now every 12 hours.

I want to update but don't know how to use root keeper. I was setting a lot of ppl losing root still. I have the su backup. Do I need to temp UN-root before I update the ota?

Here's a very simple procedure for getting back to a completely stock ver .748:

You can follow Matt's Utility and end up rooted on .173.

If you don't wish to use OTA Rootkeeper, then via the Utility, get back to stock .748 then update to .173 via OTA or manual.

If you wish to directly root .173, then here's the link:

HTH's!

I did not unroot first, I didn't even unfreeze my frozen apps. I just installed Root Keeper and when you run rootkeeper it gives you the option to back up root. Tap that button, and you'll notice that it then tells you it's backed up. At that point just install the update. Run rootkeeper again and click on the restore root button. Takes 1 second. Reboot again so your apps that required root access will refreeze everything.

Good luck

The problem for me was the Environmental Variables values for ADB. I had a colon instead of a semi-colon between the file locations.

Mine looks like this now..

C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin;C:\Users\Cowboy\Desktop\RAZR\Root\android-sdk_r15-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools;C:\Users\Cowboy\Desktop\RAZR\Root\android-sdk_r15-windows\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools;

If you have a 64bit PC, you have to point ADB to C:\Program Files\ etc... not C:\Program Files (x86)

Hope that helps someone!

Help!

Can anybody help me?

I've done everything the instructions have asked and I'm still having trouble. I get 'ADB server out of date. Killing', Daemon fails to start issues failed to copy SuperUser app etc.

I'm an ADB noob so I have no idea what most of that stuff is. Help is much appreciated!

So any idea about why it isn't working for me?

EDIT: Forget it, I OTA to 2.3.6 and then rooted successfully using Motofail!
