I seem to be stuck in a loop where I boot and it says "Encrypting" with there being nothing but a button that says "Reset Phone". If I hit it, it reboots into TWRP and then boots back to this same screen

I successfully flash TWRP but can't reboot into recovery after powering off the phone. It always boots into Factory Reset offer instead. What am I doing wrong?

Is there Cancel button? If yes then press cancel to skip decrypt. I also skip decrypt because I don't remember pass.

Go into tarp and flash no force encrypt or SuperSU as this will also disable the force encryption. No need to use the kdz method if it's doing encryption issue and you still have access to TWRP. Go to TWRP thread and download no verity zip and put on internal or external sd card and flash through TWRP or use SuperSU (you may want to format data from within TWRP first before flashing just to be safe).

Thanks for the advice but my issue was I COULDN'T go to TWRP, I was seeing the factory reset menu instead of TWRP and since this scenario was never mentioned I was thinking something is wrong. Later I did find the solution by autoprime on the forum, here it is:

If TWRP is flashed you must go through the default Factory Reset menu to load TWRP.
(unless you have a model that goes right into full recovery menu)

I have no idea why no one mentioned it, I was sure the flash wasn't successful.

Most people don't mention it that much as a lot of people on the LG scene already know if TWRP is installed factory reset screen goes to TWRP. Been like that forever with lg even back to LG G2 days. Why they do that no idea, that's LG for you I guess lol. Anyways, happy you got it working. :)

I got FW from page lg-firmwares.com and latest Android 7 is RS98810h. Could you let me know what Android 7 is version you download from OTA?
The latest version from OTA update on my phone is RS98821a.
Whatever you do, DO NOT install the RS98810h firmware. I did that not knowing it was for a carrier called Brightpoint. Now my RS988 that had been working fine with ATT GoPhone now will not stay locked on LTE and is 99.9% on HSPA. I tried to reflash on of the older ones, and it will not flash. My only hope is that the RS98821a (KDZ flash file) will be posted and try it. Otherwise may have to contact LG and see about sending it in to be flashed so LTE will work again.

Couldn't find the stock recovery anywhere. I was able to get to Nougat by downgrading to RS98811c found on these forums, getting the OTA to 11d, and then getting the OTA 21a.

Has anyone with 11d root and twrp been able to flash the 11c kdz with LGUP, to go back to the stock and receive and install N via OTA?

I cannot use LTE and tried downgrading to Android 11c but it stuck at 10% so I have to re-upgrade 10h. Hope fw 21a kdz offline

Could you downgrade from Android 7 to 6?

The problem seems to be that once 10h (Brightpoint) is installed, you can't flash an earlier version (11c or 10d), as both of those fail to flash at 10%. Then you have to re-flash 10h in order to have a working phone.
Still hoping someone will be able to post the fill 21a KDZ file.
