Yes, you can.
The following steps worked for my Galaxy S9 SM-G960F (Exynos), running Android 10 and One UI 2.0, firmware DTB4.
Downloads:
- twrp.img.tar for your device : https://twrp.me/Devices/
- latest SoLdieR9312's mod (currently 2.2) : http://www.renovate-ice.com/soldier9312/#stable_g96x-q
- Multi-Disable.android-by@alucard2.zip : https://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/one-ui-2-beta-rooting-installing-twrp-t4012961

1 - Enable the "OEM unlocking" option and boot into download mode. If you don't see this option, follow this guide : https://www.xda-developers.com/fix-...y-s9-samsung-galaxy-s8-samsung-galaxy-note-8/
2 - Flash TWRP, swipe to allow modifications, format data and reboot in TWRP.
3 - Swipe to allow modifications, flash SoLdieR9312's mod. Don't reboot system at the end of the installation. Return to TWRP main menu and flash Multi-Disable.android-by@alucard2.zip. If you get an error about odm, it's normal.
4 - Reboot system (approximately 4 minutes).

I don't really understand what SoLdieR9312's mod is for? I didn't have to use this for my S9+ exynos android 10? I'm just really interested in what is does i read the website but don't really understand anything on there. I also noticed if for a totally different model phone?

I don't really understand what SoLdieR9312's mod is for?

SoLdieR9312's mod is a mod for your stock ROM that you flash in TWRP. When you flash it, it opens an aroma installer in which you can select some options like rooting your device with magisk, debloat apps that you don't use, get iOS emojis, enable some CSC features (like phone recording, show LTE instead of 4G, enable camera's shutter sound menu, ...), and there are a lot more.

I didn't have to use this for my S9+ Exynos Android 10?

Well... when I tried to root my Galaxy S9 without SoLdieR9312's mod, just by flashing magisk in TWRP and rebooting system, I had several issues like the BSoD (black screen of death) issue. Every time my phone's screen turned off (standby), it was impossible to turn it on, unless by holding power and volume down buttons together for 7 seconds in order to restart my device.
So to get around this problem, I tried with SoLdieR9312's mod and now I have root working flawlessly on my Galaxy S9's stock ROM on Android 10.
There are certainly ways to have root without using this mod, but for ME, it is the simplest solution.

I'm just really interested in what it does I read the website but don't really understand anything on there.

You can find more information on the official XDA thread: https://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s9/sam...g96xf-fd-n-stock-rom-soldier9312-1-0-t3771346

I also noticed it's for a totally different model phone?.

If you are confused by the X in G96XF, the X just means that the mod is working both on SM-G960F (Galaxy S9) and SM-G965F (Galaxy S9+). It's only replacing the 0 or the 5. So it's compatible with your SM-G965F.

I'm also don't understand what's the problem in rooting your device ...
why don't you flash magisk through ya twrp? ...

your problem is you're using twrp > 3.2.3.0 or still on old bootloader & modem
you have to boot up in 3.2.3.0 and launch format - yes command ...

Thanks! I've been trying to root my S9 for literally 4 days now... ?

Anyway regarding your question mate I think you should be ok to root as long as you get all the files and follow carefully all the steps in first post . Let me know what happens .

In which step did you install Magisk? Is it
3 - Swipe to allow modifications, flash SoLdieR9312's mod. Don't reboot system at the end of the installation. Return to TWRP main menu and <Flash Magisk> and then flash Multi-Disable.android-by@alucard2.zip. If you get an error about odm, it's normal.
