SafeBoot works to root SGH-I467 AT&T

Thanks for the guide!

There is a MUCH MUCH easier method to root the SGH-I467 AT&T than all of this:

Download and run "SafeRoot". Unpack it and run "install.bat". Badda Bing. DONE. -smiles-

I hope this helps some people out there. I have rooted many Samsung ATT Note 8 SGH-I467 this way perfectly and in 5 seconds each time.

:good:
Thanks to theDogman. It works on my Galaxy note 8 sgh-i467 Att. Just need to first allow debugging mode on the tablet. Then install ADB drivers on the PC (http://www.driverscape.com/download/samsung-sgh-i467) . then run safeRoot on PC. that's all !
After you may need a program like (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.free) to uninstall what you don't want.

Saferoot + disable Knox... I told peeps here that Saferoot works to disable Knox... I wonder if they used Saferoot only when using 4.4.2 on Note 8.0. I did not know there are two different versions available, as I just downloaded one and noticed Knox disabling function with mine.

So I have to root first and then safestrap. And that will let me get a custom recovery on my ATT Galaxy Note 8.0 (CAMF2)... Also what Rom/kernel combinations can I use?

Noob Needs Assistance ... Please Help!

Hi All,

I got my first Android device this summer to expand my worldview ... and because AT&T wanted to give me a Galaxy Note 8.0 super cheap (SGH-i1467ZWA Android 4.1.1). I did a little reading, decided to root the device, found this forum, followed the instructions, and it worked!

I wish the story ended there, but then I made some mistakes. Shortly after the successful rooting, I agreed to download an update. After the update I no longer had root and was no running Android 4.1.2. Because I'm a noob or just wasn't thinking clearly enough to realize I should do a little more learning first, I figured I could just run the same rooting process again. But it didn't work. Now I am soft bricked ...

The device is still recognized by Odin, but when I try to flash the factory files from the aforementioned rooting procedure, it fails and my device gives me some sort of message about a "invalid magic string"?

Current status: I can get it into download mode, but the device will not turn off. It seems happy to remain on "firmware problem" screen when rebooted. I fully charged the battery and disconnected it.

So what now? Am I screwed or do I just need to find the correct file to flash with Odin? I'd be extremely happy to just get back to working factory status at this point. Root would be a bonus ... but maybe I'm not quite ready. ;)

Any help or advice welcome! Thanks for your time and for putting up with any novice butchering of terminology etc.

Cheers,
TigerRoll

Go to SAMMOBILE and download the I467 ROM that is there (should be Jelly Bean) and you should be able to flash that ROM. Then you can find a root method that best suits you...towel root or another way.
I think this should work.
Good luck.

You can solve the downloading boot loop by completely shutting down you device then power up by pressing the power button, the volume down button, and the big home button at the same time. This will ask if you want to continue to install a different version of android. Enter the cancel option and it will follow the normal boot option and then work unless you try the download option. This will allow you to use your device in the mean time. Best of luck tigerroll, you might be able to fix your boot issues through samsung kies. I kinda did the same thing trying to install a custom recovery on my s4, but I also have the same tablet.
p.s is there a way to get root on the update 4.4.2 of the sgh i467. I haven't found it yet

Hello, I can not post on the developer forums yet, so I will post what I can here.

I was able to get root access to my Samsung ATT Note 8 (SGH-i467). See attached image.

Thank you;

lyriquidperfection: for the packing tools. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2411243
globula_neagra: for the comments on system.img. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1971249
SkipKelley: for starting me off. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2385265
The XDA Forums: for being available.
chainfire: for obvious reasons. http://www.chainfire.eu/

I will try to put together a complete how to when I can. For now I will link to the image files I created.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR DEVICE NOT WORKING.

Here we go.

1. Download the i467 firmware from http://www.sammobile.com
1a. Extract the main zip file you downloaded. Leave the .tar.md5 files intact. They are the files you select with Odin in steps six (6) and nine (9).

2. Download Odin 3.07 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1738841
2a. Extract and launch Odin.

3. Download the pre-rooted I467UCAMF1 images from SAMSUNG-SGH-I467I467UCAMF1-ROOT.tar
3a. Do not extract or modify this file.

4. Do a factory reset of the device either in system settings or using recovery (volume up). Yes, I have found you must do this.
5. Boot into download mode. (Home + Volume Down + Power)

Step 6 is only required if you accepted the OTA "CAMF2".
6. Use Odin to flash all four files downloaded in step 1. BOOTLOADER, CODE, MODEM and CSC files.
6a. Let the device finish install and boot.
6b. Boot into download mode. (Home + Volume Down + Power)

This is the fun part.
7. Select PDA in Odin and select the file downloaded in step 3. Make sure all other files are not checked. Flash... Odin will say it failed. Yes, don't worry, recovery is still there.
8. Reboot into download mode (Home + Volume Down + Power)
9. Using Odin only flash the BOOTLOADER, MODEM, and CSC from step 1. Do not flash the CODE file or the modified image. In other words, leave PDA unchecked in Odin.
10. Let the device install and reboot.

You should now be able to run SuperSU.

If you want to update to OTA CAMF2 then follow these steps BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE;

Thanks to DanMc85 and others for testing. Also, usernamenotfound wrote instructions in the next post, thank you.

1. Start SuperSU and in the settings enable Survival mode.

2. Connect to a Wifi network. (Thanks aTt)

3. Go to system Settings and select About Device at the bottom of the list.

4. Select Software update on the right.

5. Go through the update process and the device will reboot. You should be at version CAMF2.

[EDIT]

Bootloader = BOOTLOADER...tar.md5
PDA = CODE...tar.md5 - Don't select this in step nine (9). Leave blank.
PHONE = MODEM...tar.md5
CSC = CSC...tar.md5
I read alot times but understanding clearly. Why not?
Because:
Step 1: Download Mode = Power + Volume Down + Home
Step 2: Flash rom from: http://www.sammobile.com what is it? PDA ? by Odin
Eg: KIES_HOME_I467UCAMF1_I467ATTAMF1_1251051_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
:silly: With PDA: I467ATTAMF1 ? Yes or No ? :cool:

However, Firmware : I467ATTAMF1 is not flash (wrong fw)

Step 3: what and what ? (Not clearly)
=====================================================
SUMMARY
1/ The Samsung SGH-I467 (AT&T) hasn't had firmware, yet.
2/ On the internet doesn't exit firmware with PDA: I467UCAMF2 to flash Odin
SO....BORING...I WAITING someone who can fix SGH-I467

Hi Mathman,

I am able to get to the screen where it asks me to "continue" to download a custom OS or "cancel" to restart the phone. However, when I press the volume down button to cancel I then get a screen that tells me "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."

I have been traveling and haven't had a chance to completely try again based on what kcour2006 suggested. Hopefully that will help. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Best,
Tigerroll

I finally had some time to try this, but it did not work. I downloaded and unzipped the the ATT SGH-I467 ROM from SAMMOBILE then did the following:
1) Disconnected and reconnected the battery on my SGH-i467.
2) Put it into download mode (power button + volume down button to menu, then volume up for download mode)
3) Opened Odin 3.07 on my laptop
4) Connected device to laptop (ODIN recognized it)
5) Clicked the PDA button in Odin and selected the
6) Made sure "Reboot" and "F Reset" check boxes selected
7) Clicked "Start"

Both ODIN and tablet progress bars shows progress. But the process only makes it about 90% of the way, then ODIN shows a big, red "FAIL" and the process stops ... unfinished.

My tablet status in the upper left hand corner reads as follows:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I467
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0
AP SWREV: A2
erasing
erase done

Any thoughts on what I can try next to get this thing working again in original factory condition? Thanks in advance for your help!

Just wondering if you ever figured out the Odin fail. I have the same issue. My kit kat update failed half way and now I get the choice between download mode or the upgrade error screen. I can't do anything else. If you got the answer please let me know or if anyone else has it I would be happy to hear it.

I haven't figured it out yet Cyril, but haven't given up hope. I'll definitely let you know if I am able solve the puzzle.
